Beautiful hike! Super steep at the end though! Especially with the wet leaves on the ground. The view from the top was great for looking at the fall leaves. Our dogs seemed to really enjoy it, too.

3 snakes along the way

Nice wildflowers in spring, easy walk along picturesque river

beautiful in July. Great water access for the dogs to play in. many bridges crossing back and forth across the creek

Very nice trail. Challenging enough for most.

Enjoyed the hike but the lake was empty. Nice roads to get there and map provided at Rocky Fork Kiosk was very helpful

Nice walk in the woods along beautiful creek for wading in July 4 heat! This park is a hidden gem

Short but steep. Hiking pole helpful in descending. Would be especially nice when leaves are off trees for good views at top

Beautiful views at the top, very steep at the end. Watch the descent, I slipped a few times. Took a 4 and 5 year old, so it's doable for kids.

A great hike! The start of the hike is nice and flat next to the creek, then when you hit the trailhead, you start up. A nice incline, towards the end, the trail becomes very steep - a good challenge. Definitely worth the views.

very nice hike. steep at the end

short hike, easy to find a follow. First mile is relatively flat, last little bit is quite steep, poles do help for the way down. Nice view at the top with a log to sit on and enjoy a snack, would do again!

Good out and back with the wife and Pup. We camped nearby through HipCamp. Great weekend!

This is a good trail for a mixture of easy and moderate if you're trying to build up hiking stamina like I am. Very beginning is uphill and starts a little tough but it evens out and has some flat areas after that. When you are almost to the shelter you will have to cross creeks three times so wear water proof shoes or just be ready to rock hop. I added this hike to this site and couldn't get the map to fully cooperate with me but read the directions on how to get there and you'll be fine. Pretty easy to find. Since the map is a little off, the distance is off also. It's actually a 2.7 mile hike (5.4 total for the out and back). We hiked it in January so there were nice mountain views and beautiful snow. In the summer it will probably not have any visible mountain views but should have nice blooms. You can make this hike much longer if you keep going past the shelter.
