Awesome trail! Went with some girlfriends today and had a great hike. Beautiful views, sounds and views of running water. The waterfall at the top was amazing and well worth the uphill hike!

Fairly easy trail ending in an incredible 360 view of Cherokee national forest. Lots of nice campsites along the way — including just below the summit of the bald — If you wanted to do an overnight

Just used this trail for the falls. Take a left after the first creek crossing. Beautiful

This trail is great! Love being near the creek and be forewarned there is creek crossing. To get there there is a one way lower parking lot and one way upper parking lot ( same road) Be forewarned if you have a low riding vehicle you will not make it to the parking area which is only half a mile. Once you park! (We parked on lower area) the trail is wonderful. It is uphill a lot of it but eventually does level out. The creek and waterfall is amazing but to get near it you have to hike down steep slopes. Otherwise trail follows creek and is a great hike. There is a junction at what looks to be a gate to the left and uphill straight. To stAy on the trail go to the left. That is the correct trail to follow. To stay on the lower Higgins trail.

This trailhead is hard to get to if you do not have 4-wheel drive. My compact could not make it over certain ditches in the gravel road and I had to back up to the bottom. Wish I could have made it.

Go early to avoid the crowd, beautiful falls. I do this one a few times a year.

Quick and simple hike, great scenery entire way to falls, beautiful falls! Very rocky - wear boots or good shoes. I personally wouldn’t recommend for dogs. Scrambling required to get down to falls.

Definitely worth the moderate hike! The falls are magnificent and the trail is not crowded.

Like others have stated, directions are incorrect. Parking is near old Bear Mountain Outfitters. The trail is paved and is mostly shaded. Nice walk overall, but a bridge is out, so a little over a mile of the trail is inaccessible from the rest.

Multiple creek crossings. I managed to only have to wade 3 times. Much of this trail is a 4x4 forest road. I encountered jeeps, trucks, motorcycles, and bicycles. Nice falls at the end and no one else in sight there.

The main gate is open for parking, all other gates are closed. This hike is very beautiful. There are several (5) river crossing, be careful of slippery rocks (I slipped and fell in! .) Most of the trail is incline until you reach the falls. The trail down to the base of the falls is very steep and muddy, but worth it! Be very cautious descending and ascending back up! We didn’t continue the trail after the falls, but I’m pretty sure it brings you to the very top. This is one of my favorites, without a doubt.

Loved this hike! The gate was closed but you can still make it. A few creek crossings. There’s also not places to hang your eno close to the falls.

Hiked this on 5/16/20 Very beautiful, rocky trail, some narrow, but well marked. Two sets of falls, 4-5 creek crossings, but nothing too hard. Quite a bit of elevation gain closer to the falls. Mostly shaded and alongside water.

I would say this hike is a little on the hard side, but i looked it up on google and it told me it was 1.5 mile hike, and when i got up there i looked it up on the AllTrail app and it said 4.9. i did not think it was gonna be that steep and rocky. Even though it’s straight up it’s definitely worth the hike all the way up! I think that if i was in a better shape i could have don’t better! i still made it all the way to the top!!

Short hike to a really nice waterfall and swimming hole when the water level is high. There’s a fun uphill scramble to a small cave and the top of the falls, and an additional trail if you stay right at the split. Minimal elevation, so this is hikeable for almost anyone.

This was a great hike! It’s really unclear when you park, how to get to the trail from the lot...but if you use the AllTrails map it tells you when you’re off trail and you can figure it out. Pretty rocky...hence the name, I imagine. And pretty much an uphill climb most of the way. There are multiple little spots along the way to dip your feet in, or even deep enough little pools/falls to actually soak and relax in! The water is still a little cold, so proceed with caution if you can’t handle the chill. There are a few creek crossings that can be a little tricky, but are definitely doable. And, if you slip...twice...like I did, you will be ok. The payoff at the falls is sooooo worth any mishaps, misdirects or missteps!!! I HIGHLY recommend this hike! It’s challenging due to the incline, but you can do it!

This trail is amazing a lot of perfect views throughout the hike plus amazing summit. It’s about 14 miles out and back. You’ll meet a lot of fun AT hikers along the way. The beginning 2 miles and last 1/2 mile are the steepest incline.

Awesome hike, beautiful day! We hiked with a 4 year old and 2 year old (in a pack). There are 3-4 stream crossings but usually possible to keep feet dry. Waterfalls were beautiful (there are two!) lots of places to cool off in the water if you have a bathing suit or fast dry clothing. I would consider this trail on the easier side of moderate, there is some elevation gain but it isn’t overly strenuous. The trail wasn’t overly busy. We hope to go back to camp/hike again!

May 15 2020. gate is open. it was a great hike. uphill all the way...

Very beautiful scenery. At the fork take a left and it takes u directly to the waterfall. Magnificent!! Beautiful!! We also took a right at the fork. So If u want more of a hike, go that way. Several smaller waterfalls that way. Very nice greenery. Some steep inclines at times and ull cross the creek a few times.

The gate to the park is still closed. However, there was limited parking outside the gate. We were still able to access the trail head and had an excellent hike. Continuous incline on the way in and the creek was a little high making the stepping stones under water. My 9 year old grandson was with us and we had no trouble. We love this trail!
