Nice hike! It’s pretty hilly, but manageable. Just follow the orange arrows. We lost the trail a few times, but were able to get back to it pretty easily. We were the only people on the trail so that was enjoyable.

The trail was well marked enough, lots of wildlife out this time of year which was good. Biggest issue wasn’t the trail itself, it was the AllTrails app. Following the trail, if you look at the app, the app shows you as anywhere between 30 and 80 feet or so off trail. We were on the official trail the entire time, but according to the app we were paralleling it the whole time. And example is if you look at the pictures I have downloaded I took a picture of trail marker 26, and then dropped a waypoint on the app. You can clearly see how much of a difference there is.

I would NOT rate this as easy. This section was moderate/hard with some pretty steep hills. Lots of mud and ankle twisters so you have to keep a keen eye on the ground. I only found two markers in the cemetery. Even with all the discomfort the views and the sound of the running creeks were worth the effort.

This was a really nice trail. I can not say enough about how well it is maintained, and the beautiful meadows, forests, and small ponds that it winds through. However, BEWARE OF TICKS. I walked the trail this past weekend with my girlfriend and dog and 2 days later we are still finding ticks. We removed 120 the first night, 20 the next day, and about 10 more on Monday. It's been one heck of a battle with these things, and I would suggest taking extreme tick precautions or staying away from this trail for the duration of tick season.

Great trail, marked well enough and seems to be taken care of. Did this with a friend and our four older children for an overnight backpacking trip. Was great for them (ages 8-13). Awesome spot to camp at halfway point out on the high ground on the point. Some very light ups and downs that gave challenge to the younger ones with packs but nothing challenging for adults.

The trail we took was nice and wide, very easy with kids. This trail, however, does not exist.

I loved this section of the trail! Lots of wildlife to be seen, trail was clearly defined and marked relatively well. Rocky in spots, but balanced out by long portions covered with Pine needles or moss- that was really nice on the feet!

Excellent! Low human traffic, HIGH game traffic. Not well marked but the trail was clearly defined. We’ve had quite a bit of rain recently but the trail wasn’t very muddy- just in a couple of low spots. The actual start shown on AllTrails was about 300 ft off the road, so ya gotta find it that way.

Pretty good little hike. Took 5 kids and a dog, ranging from 13-1yo. 6 & 8 year olds struggled a little towards end but a nice morning or afternoon hike. FYI it’s about a mile round trip to get to the loop and then the 4.4. Nice spots by water to rest. Take a right at T on way in for a better hike.

hiked this one a while back while geocaching this area. Nice ridge, alot of rocks protruding from the trail muck like a spine, hence the name Devils Backbone. Also take time to check out the bridge, creek, and spring at Panther Creek. It is a beautiful and secluded area.

Another well maintained historic Civil War trail. Nice hike and the park is a National Battlefield with lots to explore. Some parts of the trail will follow the Earthworks, some along the river, some wooded and at times through the tourist areas that will not be so private.

Have spent a few outings hiking several parts of this trail system. not alot of lake views, mostly wooded and would recommend following your map closely as there are several connecting loops and you could easily end up on a different trail but it is a historic trail and alot of fun.

Really does hold up to its name. Whatever paint marks this trail had isn’t there anymore so you really have to look to see where the trail is. Also, don’t come alone. I went 0.6 miles in and noped right back out. I watched far too many movies to know better. There were no birds whatsoever and it was sketchy. People camp in here too which is fine but I’m not trying to get slaughtered by the man in the woods or eaten by a hoard of spiders.

Definitely a good long walk in the woods. Varied path surface, rocks, pine needles, mud (expected after all the rain last week), dirt, road. I went clockwise with the better views later in the walk. Great to see a scout troop out hiking and camping over the weekend.

Nice walk. Trail isn’t well marked, but clearly defined. We almost missed the entrance because there’s no trail head marker or plastic blaze on any trees, just some red spraypaint. Same with the very end, just some red spray paint on a tree that we walked past about 30 feet before we realized we had gone too far. Good time of the year, damp and chilly, which equals no one else on the trail. It was dead quiet. I would like to try this one again sometime in the early spring.

Mixture of woods and history. Nice. Hike clockwise

Main trail is mostly paved. Poor signage though and we went off the trail several times.

I took a star away because it wasn't marked well. If I wasn't using the alltrails app I probably would have gotten lost. It's a nice trail though with pretty views. some parts were muddy with big mud holes and I imagine when the lake is up or after it has rained a lot, part of the trail would be washed out.

Beautiful riverside views! Loved walking through the area and reading all the history about Fort Donelson!
