Nice little trail. It is part of the larger Tanasi Trail System forking and looping out from the Ocoee Whitewater Visitors Center, Cherokee National Forest, near Copperhead, TN. We also hiked the Chestnut Mountain Loop but I don’t see it listed. We saw families day hiking and mountain bikers. It was Easter Sunday and a beautiful day to enjoy nature. We saw two piliated woodpeckers and the start of wildflowers blooming alongside the trail. Beautiful.

The Ocoee river and the Cherokee forest around it can make for a wonderful day in the woods. We hiked the Bear Paw loop, but also added in the River view loop. For a total of about 7 miles. Both trails offered meandering paths and some incline. I think I would have enjoyed it more on a bike. There wasn't any "oh wow" places and the River View loop lacked it's name sake. We could hear it though :-)

Pretty easy hike!

Great hike for families. The Ocoee Whitewater Center and river offers before and after fun for kids.

great trail. Walked it yesterday. There is one spot where a freshwater stream has taken over the trail and you will have to go off the trail, but other besides that, it's a lot of uphill but not that hard. It's also a horse trail so watch out for horse poop.

Awesome trail. If you go from Boyd gap to brush creek it’s pretty much 7 miles of down hill. Couple trees down probably from storms we had last week but other than that it was awesome. Be careful on the bridge I almost wiped out because it was so slick.

It was ok. Lots of loose rocks from all the rain but a nice hike and very nice views of the mountains.

Parked at the power plant. It starts right across the road from there. There aren't really any signs that say the River Loop Trail. You start out on the Benton trail, and it is all uphill for a couple miles. Then the Benton trail goes left and for this trail you go right. After that there are not many more markers for the rest of the trail. It was mid January, and the trail was simply following the flat leaves on the ground. It was pretty easy to follow, until the first creek crossing. Then there were down trees blocking the path making it very hard to find. Thank goodness for the map that had already been recorded on All trails, by Rick. Really kept me on track. When you get to the road, its a good couple miles back to the powerplant, via the road and Rhododendron Trail. I'm 55 and in fairly decent shape, and this thing wore me out. But man, I enjoyed it.

Love this trail! We like climbing over all the rocks but it’s nice to have the option of walking the flat trail to the left. A great trail for all levels!

My daughter and I had a good hike but getting to the trail was a little tricky but a fun challenge crossing the creek several times. It was cold, the creek was partially frozen so it was beautiful to see the waterfalls half frozen but still flowing. We noticed a lot of random old fire pits like some people have been living there. There was a old tent and sleeping bag rolled up and we could not tell if someone was bundled up under it or if it had been abandoned. That made me a little uneasy on the trail with just me and my daughter. Then about a mile up the trail I am pretty sure we heard a bear growl across the creek up the mountain, far enough away but close enough to where we turned around and hightailed it back to the car.

The trail is much longer then 2.2 miles, it was a logging road, very easy at first and gets a little more difficult further back. There are multiple roads/trails past the clearing on both sides of Goforth creek. Made it back a good ways (didn’t start tracking till well past the cleaning) on the main trail on left side of the creek before the undergrowth became too thick to continue any further on a day hike. Could be hiked all the way to Lost Creek if there were better maps available.

Went hiking during the week. Well maintained, lots of tracks from bikes narrow could be dangerous during the weekend. Nice sparkling views of the lake.

nice, easy family hike.

Overall this is a pretty bland trail with little scenic value past the first 200 yards or so. The trail does go quite a bit further than is listed here though. I turned around at mile 1.6 due to a thick section of blow down that just wasn't worth all of the climbing over and ducking under trees. The trail clearly went on though. That said, if you're looking for some solitude and are willing to put in the effort, this hike will give it to you.

Steep climbs but fun.

Going clockwise the climb was strenuous but the downhill made it all worthwhile.

Followed the tip and parked at the campground. Started at the power plant on BMT. Shortly after making the turn onto the rock creek trail, the trail became pretty overgrown and hard to follow. it got better ~4 Miles in but not as well traveled as the BMT. We pushed through with our two kids 7 & 13 and made the full loop (10.5 Miles). Nice walk in the woods!

Great trail. Well maintained.

I have great love for this little trail! Many years ago I hiked this trail, which triggered my passion for hiking. I eventually went on to thru-hike the AT and the TRT. Many more thru-hikes planned in my future.

Started trial at brush creek and ended at Boyd gap parking lot then easy down hill on road back to parking. Overall good ride fairly easy with the exception on the last couple of miles.

One of my favorites!

Great spot to hike, kayak and ride. Excellent gift shop inside the center, lots of good info regarding the Ocoee Whitewater center. Good products sold as well from literature to Kavu, northface, Patagonia gear.
