Pretty easy trail, but definitely gets more challenging if you go beyond the falls.

Excellent trail for a quick get away and exercise! Going in is literally all up hill.

The first (roughly) five miles to the Fire Tower is mostly uphill single-track. The two and a half miles from the Fire Tower to the Radio Tower is a relatively good forest service road. The trail inside Laurel Run Park, up to the waterfall is a good broad climb. Going further it switches to single-track and you pass a few abandoned cabins. Expect a few spider webs and a bit of poison ivy here & there. Couple of blow-downs.

If you follow the recording you end up on private property, bullet ridden no trespassing signs. Our group ended up with 14 total yellow jacket stings, not our best day.

A few have noted that the back end of the loop is a bit overgrown. Some places hard to see whats under your feet. Thats still true with a few trees down also. This trail just needs a bit of TLC and would be great throughout the loop. The trees are gonna need to be attended to on both ends of the trail. Nice view even in the grown-up deep summertime.

a widely-travelled trail. encountered a black bear at the far end before entering the Kiner trail. possibly a bit muddy but nothing to be concerned about.

Beautiful trail! Easy walking and not many inclines. There are also some beautiful, old houses that are really interesting. Would definitely go again.

Excellent morning hike, we got on the trail around 9 AM, we got off the beaten path and followed the stream up to the bottom of the upper waterfall and got into some yellow jackets. Other than that it was a beautiful hike, well worn Trail the entire way. This is the first time I’ve hiked this trail in many years, the last time I hiked it the water was much deeper at the crossing... I think there used to be a beaver dam that has been broken. We went all the way to the Kiner intersection, beautiful area.

Nicely maintained trail, a little washed out in spots. We had a good rain yesterday, but I only encountered a few soggy spots. Lots of blow down and debris along the creek, the falls were a bit smaller than I expected, but worth the hike.

I walk this trail at least a couple times a week. The view is great and definitely clear, even in summer. If you take the first right off the main path to the overlook, it is very steep and you’ll definitely get your cardio in. However, it’s a pretty short hike up to the lookout. You can then continue on the trail to lead back to the path that will take you to the falls. Likewise, you could hike it backwards, coming from the falls, where it is less steep but much longer to the overlook. Definitely worth a trip up.

This and the lookout trail are some of my every day hikes - I hike these trails usually at least twice a week. They’re lovely and well marked. Keep in mind you need to cross a stream to get to the small waterfall, so be sure to wear proper shoes. The trails can get muddy after heavier rainfall and there’s been times the stream is impassible. The falls are smaller, but still wonderful to hang out by, either at the face of the falls or above them. The trail continues on (at length) up into Bay’s mountain. Definitely a favorite and moderate enough for those not up for a difficult hike!

Beautiful trail with lots of spot to get muddy and plenty of creeks to wash it off. I would consider this trail to be easy.

We initially considered taking the switchback that’s to the right for the overlook, but it was too muddy and slippery to be safe. We instead took the in and out that leads to the falls; this was not as challenging as I expected, however this was a very muddy trail. Encountered several areas that I sunk into or were spongy. The waterfalls were well worth it. To get to the second we had to go into the waters, over several fallen, possibly placed, trees and branches due to a massive but secured fallen tree that blocks the actual trail. Lots of neat “creepy crawly” creatures along the paths, and a huge hatching of one variety covered seemingly every surface at the first fall. The trail looks like it tries to continue or did at one time well past the second fall. If it does, it’s not well maintained. Pretty spot over all. Terribly disappointed in the amount of trash and cigarette butts though. Please pick up after yourselves to keep these places beautiful.

If you're not lazy there is about a 20 foot waterfall further back on the trail that you can walk behind.

Loved the hike! Beautiful scenery & beautiful waterfalls!

much nicer, quieter route than the main trail to the falls.

Completely recommend, especially with children. Easy in and out all while keeping kids excited with the falls and creek. Great way to introduce hound ones to hiking. Trail was good with some minor off trail hiking toward the end. Trail is cluttered and nearly impassible towards the end. Great overall thought plus a beautiful park.

Very easy hike. Thousands of wildflowers in the spring.

Beautiful waterfall, a bit muddy on the way but worth it once you get there!

It's pate December and snow has melted which makes the trail 2x as hard than normal. There is A LOT of mud and slipping is almost inevitable. The creek was up getting to the waterfall so it's better to balance on the fallen tree across the creek.

Nice basic hike. Short and sweet. Pretty Falls.

Hiked this trail for probably the 5th time last Sunday. Main trail was great, but decided to take the lookout trail on the way back. Started it in the reverse direction. DO NOT DO THIS. The trail leading up to the lookout point is very overgrown and not frequently hiked. Trees down and grass up over my knees. Past the lookout spot down to the start of the trail was much better. People must go up to the lookout and go back the way the came. Lookout view is on of my favorites though.

Very photogenic hike. Can take it all the way into Bays Mountain Park 6 miles in.

I wouldn't classify this trail as easy but seasoned hikers will have no problem with it. Very steep for the majority of the trail but it goes by quickly. Quaint view of the valley. I love hitting this on the way back from the falls as it's a milder trail from the back. Love this trail!

Went back today, we did kiners holler and by pretty ridge. Seen a copperhead on the way but overall it was very nice. We did 9 miles total.
