fantastic hike! great scenery and the reward of the views and the old fire watch tower at the top made the incline well worth it! pack water and take snacks and enjoy some time exploring at the tower before heading back down.

we loved this hike! so much variety! not too long but still challenging. we did the hike clockwise and were happy we did because the best scenery was at the end portion so it was a great way to end the hike with a bang.

beautiful hike but not easy. with all the creek crossings, sometimes hard to tell where the path is, slippery rocks and fast current in some spots I would say it should definitely be rated moderate. its a bit easier if you just accept your going to get your feet fully submerged and just walk across on the smaller rocks with water up to your ankles and almost knees at times instead of trying to balance on rocks and only get a little wet. it's just not worth the extra effort because you will eventually get wet anyway. in some places take great care in crossing because the current can be fast enough to sweep you off your feet or the rocks might be slippery. also the bathtub has changed over the years. it's not as amazing as our friends recalled it being years ago. the water only went up to just above my knees so there is no jumping in. also if it's rainy the crossings will be more dangerous so don't go if it's raining or if there is a chance of getting caught in the rain.

Quick hike with a great view

Did this hike on Monday. There was not a ‘closed due to tornado’ sign where we started the hike. . There should have been since we climbed over, around and through at least 40 trees and branches on the trail. The sign was at the end of the trail. It will be an awesome hike when cleaned up.

Amazing views

Came from Cathedral Spires and was well worth it. Going up to the top was tough. Harder climbing back down. The views were worth it. Saw a mt goat and little one on the way back down. Will not forget this hike

Awesome! Seeing things from the road is great but getting up close and personal is unforgettable.

Good hike, trail was pretty soggy in a few spots. marvelous views, the regrowth from the fire 2 years ago is lush and the green against some of the charred trunks makes for breathtaking scenery on this hike.

This is my third trip up the north side, more challenging and scenic than the Sylvan Lake Approach. Approx. 6-7 Hours up and back...and three bottles of water plus a Gatorade at the finish. Very hot, and a steady climb. Saw two other couples on the entire trek. Great views and places to eat lunch. A lot of horse droppings and the constant helicopters on their way to Mt. Rushmore made me feel like an ex-con on the run. Well worth it, only one stream and with all the horse activity I would be hesitant to drink even treated water.

We completed Crow Peak in 4 hours round trip, with some water stops along the way. It was very hot and humid, making for a very sweaty hike, but cool breezes at the top. PS. someone left their binoculars at the top...they are hanging on the summit sign. Incredible view at the top, after some steep switchbacks. I would rate moderate to patches of difficult.

This trail was an incredible trail that should be a must-do for everyone that have never been to the Badlands and only have one day to get the most out of it. It provides a nice flat trail through the grasses (beware of rattlesnakes) and leads up to the ladder. It’s easy going up but can be difficult descending. It gets strenuous right around there having you traverse around a very steep cliff into a canyon. But after that, the valley opens up and your in another world full of endless discoveries and a grand view to make a cherry on top of a great cake.

Took the dog with us, nice view, peaceful, and a must do!

It was amazing and nice. The wife thought the water was way to cold for comfort

We only had 30 minutes to hike so went up for a quick leg stretch (just hiking 15 min in, 15 min out). Got to see the huge cut of the mine, which was really cool and an abundance of deer and wildflowers.

on Sunday Gulch Trail

One of my favorite black hills hikes. Not too long, but easy to get to TH, beautiful scenery, a bit of bouldering, family can handle it, AND who doesn't like waterfalls

Great site. HIke is a simple walk to the base of the monuments.

Steep climb to an overlook. Great Views.

waterfall was nice. walk along the stream was pleasant. Nice but not spectacular.

Definitely more moderate than easy, due to unlevel ground and several water crossings. Our 7 year old did fine, but needed adult help in several areas. Gorgeous area - lots of areas for great photos. Biggest issue was LOTS of poison ivy. Entire trail was covered with it - if you watch your footing carefully you can avoid it.

Did this trail in 3 1/2 hours. Amazing views from the top. Bring sun screen!

Great hike not hard ! Short and sweet. Parking was a little hard to find. Rock Climbers were amazing to watch

Nice short trail With big views, wildflowers and ripe raspberries

Great drive, very scenic. Did enroute to Devil's tower.

Nice easy walking trail. Up and back in under 2.5 hours. Beautiful view from the Harney Peak lookout, worth the trek utilizing trail 9

Hiked today 7-10, temps were high but it was windy enough to stay pleasant. Based on recommendations, we went counterclockwise and agree with the recommendation. There were quite a few ticks on the lower level but with hats and buddy checks we managed it pretty easily. We saw a herd of big horn sheep on the upper portion, they were below us on their own ledge. Very cool hike with spectacular vistas.

I thought this was a very challenging hike for the first mile. I started at the gulch with the water running over the steps and big boulders. I am glad they put the handrails, they sure came in handy. I truly enjoyed this hike and the challenges it provided, once you get through the water streams it gets easier.

Definitely recommend this trail, it’s a perfect day hike. Bring plenty of water as it is very exposed to the sun.

Nice, easy hike but watch for buffalo chips on the trail. Beautiful scenery with chirping prairie dogs as a bonus.
