Nice paved trail for walking with some gentle elevation change. For the more adventurous, there is a rocky area to climb on and get closer to the falls. There are some points of interest along the walking trail. Lots of green space too. Very busy on a nice Sunday afternoon in July.

One negative is the smell. I'm not sure if it's something that runs through the water or if it's just one of the industrial facilities near the park, but there is a pretty nasty smell in the area.

We did the whole loop. It took us an hour and 40 minutes. Lots of big hills. Beautiful views of the lake. If you are camping near Gavin's Point Dam this is a great hike. I wouldn't do this with young children. We have an 8 and a 6 year old and we left them at the campsite with Grandma and Grandpa. It was the right decision. Great hike with beautiful views.

it is a nice walk with waterfall backdrops throughout. Historical markers provide interesting information about the site.

First time on this trail. It was icy in some spots but doable. Coming down the icy hills a little bit tricky. Thanks to the footprints of the person before me I was able to see where the trail was. Can't wait to come back in the spring and summer but loved having the trail to myself and my dog Max.

Stunning! Lookout tower shows the beauty of this place. We were able to see a group of geese on the knoll. Lots of relaxing spots to just soak in the beauty.

We love this trail. The full loop is about 4 miles but you can do a 1 mile loop. You will see amazing native Bur Oak trees. Wear your hiking shoes for some steep hill climbs. You will get a great workout from this one. Pack a picnic and enjoy lunch from the bluffs overlooking Lewis & Clark Lake.

I like this quiet trail as it is a little longer than some of the others at Great Bear if you begin from the parking lot near the lodge. There's a grassy knoll at the top of the trail. Well marked trails. There are other short connecting trails so that if you get bored you can change up your route. @backpackerneil

This trail leads up to a high point with a nice view to the West and the city of Sioux Falls. A couple of steep portions of the dirt trail make it a little more challenging than some of the others at this recreation area. @backpackerneil

Very Easy short trail. Is a nice quiet trail with a very picturesque pond and footbridge. Saw wild turkeys and signs of other wildlife. @backpackerneil

This is a great trail! It is a bit rough because it is also open to horses, especially the uphill portions. If you have trouble with steep inclines and declines on rough terrain I would definately recommend a walking stick. The trail is really beautiful and has some fantastic views. The best part is the trail is made up of a series of loops so teh distance can eaily be amended anywhere from 1 mile to the full 4.1 miles.
