We only had 30 minutes to hike so went up for a quick leg stretch (just hiking 15 min in, 15 min out). Got to see the huge cut of the mine, which was really cool and an abundance of deer and wildflowers.

waterfall was nice. walk along the stream was pleasant. Nice but not spectacular.

Poorly marked. We couldn’t find the trail about a mile in, partially due to lots of downed trees. Ended up turning around after that.

We attempted this loop yesterday on mountain bikes. Very beautiful in places, however very overgrown with tons of fallen trees. In spots we were just walking our bikes and carrying them over trees, easily >30. Overall the area is very scenic with waterfalls nearby to visit on foot as well.

loved this hike

heavy traffic and can be very popular. very beautiful and great places to take photos.

Fun, relatively easy trail with beautiful views of Deadwood and Lead. Lots of great kiosks along the trail with information about the history of area.

The unmarked trailhead on the Deadwood side is nearly impossible to find unless you’ve hiked the trail through from Lead. It’s a short walk up from the Mickelson Trail trailhead, just a bit past the little exercise station at the Powerhouse Park trail. It cuts sharply back up the hillside and runs nearly parallel to the Mickelson Trail, so be looking to your right and a bit behind you to locate the trailhead.

The trail is much easier to find & follow from the Lead side. It begins at the Lead Dog Park. Take the steep path up to the dog park, then pick up the trail from the gate at the far side of the park.

Very pretty walk and a very easy hike. The path is gravel and has no difficult parts to it. Lots and lots of mosquitos during the during

Super easy rolling hills well-maintained path that meanders along a beautiful stream. The falls are very cool, like Hobbit-Shire cool. We were there on a slightly rainy day so crowds were NOT an issue. I’d go again if I were in the area.

Nice easy hike. We also did the new trail, Savoy, to the ponds. I think the mileage is a bit off as it didn't seem like 4 miles.

A lot of fallen trees that block the trail. You can climb over them but these just make it more challenging. Beautiful scenery but no wildlife today

Very easy trail. Best time to hike is in the fall!

Great trail to the Spearfish Falls. Re-done. Nice easy trail. And the Falls are Great. One of my favorites.

Snow depth was amazing. NOAA stated 40"-50", I would say closer to 30"! Still a beautiful and moderately strenuous snowshoe adventure. My nephew tagged along, but doesn't own snowshoes and struggled the entire time. Plenty of great looping/crossing trails that are reasonably marked but as a first time visitor to the area, they come up a bit short. Found myself relying heavily on GPS. I suspect these trails to be much more easy to navigate without snow cover but then we wouldn't be snowshoeing. Due to the low number of reviews/photos, I did not have a high expectation for the area. However, it exceeded my expectations in accessibility and beauty. I would definitely snowshoe or hike this area again.

Nice easy trail. Very well packed and heavy traffic. There are a couple of spots you can get off the trail with snowshoes but they aren’t necessary if it hasn’t just snowed. There are a couple off shoots of the trail that looked interesting and other trails near by.

Very cool! Multiple trails that loop together. Very well marked and maps at most major intersections. Excellent snowshoe and cross country trails in winter.

Nice relaxing trail in late December. Highly recommended for all skill levels. We had snowshoes but they weren't necessary at all. Snow was packed tight due to traffic.

nice path, beautiful colors everywhere. walk next to creek to waterfall. can be busy at times.

Loved this short hike... Color is amazing at the falls! Did quite a few hikes in area and this little one was certainly one of my favorite!

Nice trail that few are using, only us and 2 mountain bikers.

A couple points had cow paths intersecting but finding the right path was not too difficult. Overall a very nice trail with gentle climb and decents. Seemed a llittle longer than the 5.8 mile with us recording about 6.8 or so.

This was an easy, mostly shaded trail. The falls were a little crowded but everyone was friendly. We were able to use our jogging stroller with a little extra navigation through some (very slight) uneven spots.

Beautiful, quick and easy hike. Trail was quite busy, but great for all skill levels. I look forward to doing it when the leaves start changing colors.

Easy with moderate traffic (we went in mid-August). Gorgeous scenery.

The multiple trails are cool, but navigating and signage are lacking. Planning to go again to go on more different trails.

Very easy and amazing scenery

My wife and I enjoyed the walk and scenery. It was an easy trail and was moderate in traffic. The two falls viewing areas were fairly crowded.

A beautiful hike, even and especially in the winter!

many trails on the main trail, we got lost at least twice, had no idea where we were because there's no service and this map helped for most of it except the last 2 miles and then when we finally got to the road we walked another mile and a half to the car.. 8.37 miles later..
