The trails were great for biking and there are also some challenging trails, if you choose to take them. The trails were very quiet with little traffic at the time I rode them. The mosquitoes could be annoying if you stopped for long on the woodland trails, but they weren’t so bad that I had to use bug spray. The beach was beautiful and there were lots of deer tracks everywhere. I did see a racoon with three pups at the lagoon.

The trail just reopened since Hurricane Matthew. Compared to the other trails on Hunting Island this trail feels much more "back country". It has plenty of small hills and switchbacks. I'm training to section hike the AT and really felt this was a nice entry level hiking trail. My advice is bring plenty of water, and lots of bug spray.

Most of the trail is still closed from the hurricane, only about a quarter of it is accessible. The part that is open has some moderate inclines, really different than anything I’ve seen in SE Georgia and SE South Carolina. It will be cool to do the whole thing, if it ever reopens.

Beautiful trail that looked like a southern jungle. Easy surface with some steep ups and downs. A few sections of the trail were covered over with swamp water that I did not want to walk through so I turned back. Would do it again and would camp at Hunting Island again for sure.

It's an all right beach nothing really super exciting as far as the trail. Mostly flat and a lot of foliage. Not a lot of wildlife we did see deer on the side of the road as we left in the evening.

Quick and fun!

i completed the entire trail as well as the rest of the trails in the park. specifically diamondback rattlesnake had a few decent inclines and declines. definately glad i had a long stick there were huge spiderwebs all over. the entire trail you feel like your in the deep woods. very narrow trail and very lightly trafficked. you can tell not many people use this trail as loose leaves cover most of it. definately got me to break a sweat and was a good outing. a little short but still worth it for a quick workout. i wouldnt call it hard by any means if you frequently hike but if your a beginner it can be a little rough. and the bugs!!!!!! oh man the bugs bring bug spray they are insatiable.

I didnt complete the whole trail but the parts that weren't underwater were very strenuous with hills and roots this trail is best during the dry season.

Not much going on here, but it was a nice trail to hike with some decent photo opportunities.

This is a fairly strenuous hike across Hunting Island. The forest is gorgeous. You can expect to see plenty of wildlife. I saw some deer, woodpeckers, possibly a pig, and A LOT of spiders!

For the most part, the trail is well marked, however I got a little confused about halfway in after crossing another trail. What I believed to be the trail ran right into a heavy blowdown area. I just followed my gut through there and eventually found the trail. I can only advise that you do the same and trust the trail is where you would expect.

This trail is mostly a gravel trail that provides access to several other trails. However, it is definitely worth the trip for the views from the pedestrian bridge over the lagoon and the "boneyard beach".

Decent trail. Not too much to see but a good stroll through the woods.

Trail was wide with very nice coastal forest. State park maintenance removes low brush frequently to keep vistas open. Took a slow hike on this one to take in all the nature.
