for the record High falls trail at Ralph J. Andrew's recreation park is located on pine creek rd in Glendale, North Carolina not Salem, South Carolina. This is the opposite entrance to the falls from High Falls trail. shorter out and back from this end.

This is a great workout - the way up really gets your heart rate going :) Trail is well maintained. Waterfalls are truly beautiful.

Awesome hike. Had an eight year old, six year old and a dog. Fun hike but lots of stairs on the way back up!

This is a can't miss, but be ready to put in the work. Take snacks, water, and swim gear then plan to stay a bit. This fall is one of the best I've seen.

Beautiful falls. Very steep elevation over short distance. Please be in decent shape to enjoy this.

We had a lot of fun hiking to these beautiful falls.

This was a beautiful hike. You get to hear the water babbling as you hike for much of the trail. We were unsure if we were in the right path at first. You leave the parking lot and start hiking. At the first sign, follow the blue blazes to the left. After about a mile and crossing two bridges, go left following the white blazes. Much of the hike is easy but I would consider the last mile difficult. Many stairs and rock scrabbling. It took us 3:20 there and back. We had a dog with us but the last mile with ladders, boulders, and stairs are not dog friendly. We also were brushing ticks off us. DEET would be good to spray before heading out.

I went on June 30. The view was great, but I wish it was closer to the Falls. Looking at them from distance, you really miss the powerful energy then if you were closer. I’ll try the upper Falls next time.

Fantastic waterfall, but kind of brutal hike back up to the top. It is a short hike, but the rocks on the way down are mighty slippery, so watch your step!

Incredible waterfall at the bottom of this descending trail. Among the best I’ve seen in Lake Glenville area. Steep climb out out, but well worth it!

Very steep in some areas with 3 young kids and 2 dogs but not busy at all and great hike.

Well worth the hike.

great trail. 100% worth the walk to the bottom. found a great spot to set up my eno for an hour and hang out and listen to the falls. great trip.

Wonderful hike with an incredible reward at the end. Highly recommended!

The trail length is around 5 miles total. Pretty hike.

Beautiful hike, we started at Bad Creek parking area on the Duke Engergy property. The initial hike to the Whitewater trail is 0.7 miles, then another 2.3 to the Falls over look. The The hike is easy until you cross the river at the second bridge over Whitewater RIver, then it is more challenging. Return is mostly downhill, it took us about 1.5 hour to the top and another 1 hour to return to the car. Well worth the hike to see this beautiful powerful waterfall!

My daughter and I hiked this tail yesterday, beautiful sunny day, 55 degrees! We started at the Bad Creek parking lot and hike to the top of Whitewater Falls and back. It was a nice hike we enjoyed it.
Beautiful falls, well worth the hike!!

The falls are beautiful and powerful. A nice overlook!

Great trail to start a week of hiking with. My dogs loved it and we all climbed on rocks and did our own little adventure when we got down to the falls. A warning the climb back up all up hill is a workout.. one needs to be in shape.

A beautiful, short, and difficult, out and back trail located at the Pines Recreation Area. You park in a well-marked area with restrooms and a seasonal man-made beach. The trail starts directly across the parking lot. For the most part, it begins with a decent down to the waterfall. The hike is difficult due to the 500+ elevation change in the short distance and rocky trail. We did this hike with my 5 year old who loved it, she has experience hiking. You should be in halfway decent shape for this hike but it is reasonable for anyone who wants to attempt it. You just may need to take a few breaks. We will definitely be doing this one again in the summer or fall. Our winter trip added to the difficulty as many of the rocks were covered in ice making it a bit more treacherous.

Pretty hike!

Excellent trail. More "easy" than moderate... just a little ascending.

The falls are some of the most beautiful I've seen in this area.

Nice lookout 1m. from parking lot to see before or after by car.

Beautiful falls- well worth the hike! it's a very natural path and a pretty steep incline on the way back up. Great hike!

Gorgeous view of falls! Well marked beautiful trail. No crowds.

Nice day hike... viewing deck is small but luckily there were few people on the trail. Note that as you walk from the parking area to the top of the 1st rise the trail continues to the left. The trail that goes to the right leads down the steep incline to the lake and is very over grown.

Great Trail but distance is longer than what is recorded by about 1/2 mile. Waterfalls were awesome, but from a distance. I thought it as a moderate trail, however, there are some spots that are more strenuous. Well marked trail.

Great hike-well marked trails. If I had not read other reviews about the end of the hike being at such a distance it would have been disappointing- but beautiful.
