This easy, foot-traffic-only loop trail begins from the dirt road that leads to the stables and continues on through varying wildlife habitats. You will descend through mixed pine and hardwood trees, wind along the rocky shoals of Fairforest Creek giving a sense of a mountain trail, and then loop back uphill through the woods. Remains of an old mill site along Fairforest Creek and bridge crossing are two historical points of view along this trail. Trail signs at intersections will help you find your way back. You may see a variety wildlife including birds, deer, squirrels, and snakes.Show more

This trail is the first section that takes you from the main parking area by the ranger station through the woods to arrive at rest area at the river. This area is complete with numerous improvements and places to sit and rest. The river is perfect to wade in the rocky shoals and enjoy nature. The trail crosses Fairforest Creek by way of a 65 feet long “Advance America” expansion bridge. This is the longest foot bridge in the SC State Park Service. If you continue to the other side of the creek numerous additional trails start from this location. This trail is a simple out and back portion taking you the bridge. If you travel across the bridge and further down the trail you will encounter remains of old homesteads, many beautiful and varying wildlife habitats, and mixed forests. This is a beautiful trail for all users that you will definitely want to travel.Show more
