Fantastic trail. Always take the in laws here with the kids. It’s a great loop.

Glad to have gotten here before the bug season so to speak. Definitely be prepared for obvious swamp like conditions after rain.

Great trail. Excellent if you like to relax in a hammock you can find a really nice spot along the Cedar Creek bank.

Easy trail, good walk. Go early in the year to beat the bugs. It is a swamp, so be prepared for mud if it has rained recently.

This is a great trail that winds through some unfamiliar swampland. Extensive storm damage with fallen trees causes quite a few diversions from the "normal" route, but trail markers are frequent and updated making it difficult to get lost. It gets a little buggy near the river, so wear bug spray, but the views are beautiful. Dog friendly, and easy to run so long as you don't mind hopping a few downed trees.

This park is a great alternative to crowders mtn, which can become very crowded on certain days. I’ve never done the whole loop but the portion that I do is one of my favorites in the area. I start out at the equestrian parking lot and pick up the trail from there. If you have dogs they will love this trail since it follows a creek for a couple miles before splitting away from it. Just be cautious of the snakes in the warmer months. I encountered 3 harmless black snakes but also 2 water moccasins in the time I spent on the hike (about 5 miles) so if your dogs have “choosey” listening skills and are as curious as mine are, it might be better to keep them on a leash in spring and summer. Other than that, the trail is really nice and the water is always cool in the summer which is something my furry buds appreciate.

It is not moderate. This is an easy trail that is level and very pretty.

Great paved, natural and pea gravel trails. Good for walking with the family and pooch. Mostly flat except the Nature Trail.

Tate's trail offers the opportunity to hike in a unique habitat, the longleaf pine forest. Here you will see a number of rare plant species, and wildlife. Halfway down the trail is a number of dead longleaf pines, home to a number of RCW's (red cockaded woodpeckers). The trail also offers some great views of the adjacent ponds. Elevation is varied, and footing is hardpacked/sandy.

This hike can be done out and back, or one way if you have an additional vehicle. The second vehicle should park at the bottom of the dirt road next to "lake Number 12". You'll see the turn off for this parking area immediately east of SR 145 on Refuge Visitor's Drive.

really nice trail- very flat. closer to 7 miles even. would recommend all the trails in this park. the camping area is about .25 miles from the visitor center, and the access trail to the trailhead is another .25 or so from there.

Pretty cool for birding. Would like to come back in the summer to see if we could find Otters in the back.

Great trail for an easy family hike. Marked all the way along so you can’t get lost. Fun day!

Got this one added and approved by AllTrails. Starts in Kings Mtn National Military Park and ends at the lake in Kings Mtn State Park, or vice versa. 6 mile round trip. Wilderness hike along a creek the first leg and then some minor elevation gain the rest of the way.

5 mile round trip. View at the summit kinda blows. Too many trees. Cool forested hike to the top, though. A lot of inclining and declining, but never too difficult.

Nice trail, nothing difficult. View at top will be better once the leaves are off the trees. Great park staff.

I hiked this with another girl (both above average fitness, average hiking experience). Despite very little elevation change, the trail goes through varied terrains that make for a beautiful hike. It was not overwhelmingly buggy, but we were glad to have bug spray. There's a marked trail down to the sandbar that made for a great lunch spot. Although the trail measures 10 miles, both of our trackers measured 13 miles--which could be due to the number of trail diversions required to get around fallen trees or pick back up on the trial when the markers weren't clear. With a few exceptions, it was well marked. It took about 6 hours (including our break on the beach), which was longer than the 4 hours we predicted. Overall, it's a great day hike and worth the time.

split this trail in half. hiked first half camped then hiked second half. it was the first time I've hiked this trail. if I do it again I would go in at the national Park and hike to there camp site then back, and pack more water. the dreams there was almost dry and questionable to filter to drink.

The trail was gorgeous, with lots of cover so that even on a hot day it didn't feel so bad. There are lots of downed trees to climb over, including one section that became nearly impossible to pass due to the number and location of the fallen trees, but ultimately the hike was worth it and it made a nice change of pace.

Great hike on a cool morning. Great trail with the dogs.

Simple boardwalk loop. Congaree is nice for a swampy area, (not my favorite scenery) but it had its unique beauties. As of 8/27, there are lots of banana spiders and other little spiders.

It's a nice walk but hardly a hike. Great for little kids, very nice boardwalk.

Nice, bring bug spray! Very easy trail but lots of downed trees in trail path.

Quick, short path. The hills make it a great workout. The kids liked the unpaved walk through the woods too.
