Great Trail! Both parkings are easy to find, but are not huge, so recommend getting to the trail early on the weekends. During Thanksgiving day it was moderately trafficked. The paths are well maintained and most importantly still green! the views from the Diamond Outlook are marvelous even in November.

Very hard hike! Took me 2 hours up, and 1.5 hours down. But very rewarding!

Hiked this on 11/26/20. Trail had everything - mud, ice and snow. Wouldn’t have been able to do it without my spikes. Recommend doing the loop clockwise, your knees will thank you. Parking lot is huge, one bathroom is available. Really enjoyed the day - happy Thanksgiving!

Amazing trail, great views! It was a sunny day with below freezing temperatures in the morning. We started at 10:45am and stopped at 3.7miles, couldn’t summit. Really steep and deep snow after 3.5miles. We did not have chains or snow gear, just hiking boots and thick clothes for cold so we decided to not risk it by going to summit. Totally worth the experience till we could do it! Great views after the first 1.5miles. Coming back in summer to finish this hike! We did a roundtrip of 7.4 miles in 4.5 hours.

Rock climbingGreat!RockyScramble

Actual trail (out and back) is short - 1 mile to the bottom of the boulder field. Then climb straight up the rocks, or take the faint trail to the right of the rocks towards the top. Bring some grip gloves and your hands will thank you. Plenty of camping spots along the way, but the parking area is small and only holds maybe 5-7 cars. I went super early in the morning (6 am) on a weekday and had the entire trail and boulder field completely to myself for 4 hours. Will be back in the summer to climb the boulders again, to camp overnight, and to complete the longer hiking loop.

Hiked this for thanksgiving- so lovely! The area before the turn around has a pretty serious ascent, so figure than in mentally if it’s something helpful for you. The views from the interior trail are really wonderful.

Well-packed snow until under Engineer Mountain. Beautiful views in the basin under that mountain. We trekked up in the snow to the lower ridgeline east of Engineer, and the views from up there were incredible. Very cold, and no wildlife (not a single bird!).

HikingGreat!Snow

Beautiful hike! I'm not sure I've ever been on a hike through a forest this emerald green before! And, I live in the Pacific Northwest! The forest is densely packed with trees and sword ferns. There are a few rock staircases built into the trail using rock from the area. While clearly placed there by human hands, the rocks blend in so naturally that you'd almost think they'd been there since the beginning of time. Breathtaking views from the top, plus incredibly friendly local birds who cozy up right next to you in hopes that you'll share a few crumbs of food with them. It's a great welcoming party up there! When I was up there on 11/26, the trees were covered in snow at the top. No need for microspikes at the moment, but they will be needed soon.
