Lots of rocks with the leaves down makes it difficult for footing, wet in areas but nice trail against the river

My humans and I did this hike today. What an absolutely beautiful fall day! We started at the trail head on plain Road at the Tillinghast wild management area. The trail is well marked with yellow blazes. The cemetery is about 10 to 15 minutes in on the right-hand side. You need to look for the rock wall foundation and there are several tombstones over to the far right corner. Some date back to the early 1800s. If you are on the trail and you proceed to turn left following the yellow blazes you have missed the cemetery. We took the trail to the end following the north loop and then proceeded onto the Tillinghast Pond loop trail. This trail is marked with white blazes. This trail proceeds to loop all the way around the pond bringing us back to the parking lot. The entire loop was about 4.6 miles. I would rate this trail as easy with the exception of the fact that it is moderately long. This would be a great trail in the winter as there is very little rocks or lose footing. Please make sure you wear your orange vest and hat. This is a hunting area. Canines, please make sure your humans put a vest on you and keep you on leash! It’s for everyone’s safety. Get out there and enjoy! The scenery is diverse and very enjoyable!

Great scenic trail. Easy parking. Not well marked trail and many trails; but can maintain direction well and won’t get lost. Great views of Tarbox Pond.

Nice, beautiful trail however the white blazes leading to the Falls could be marked better; used the All Trails map to help us with that!!!

from September to February, wearing orange is required. this is a hunting area.

Beautiful and peaceful trail with very little traffic. I enjoyed this trail very much.

Gorgeous trails. Saying that, nothing is marked and you could easily get lost. Follow the GPS trail on AllTrails. I would not recommend this trail for small children.

had first date with my girlfriend here. awesome spot.

A perfect cloudy October day! Beautiful!

I have rode here several times ,with out gps easy to get lost or looped back far from parking spot but never really lost most trails come out to main rd or run across other people.

Beautiful views and perfect to go with the family.

The dirt road is long and very steep with some good size dips in it. Highly recommend taking a Jeep or at least an suv or truck down here unless you park at the top and walk down! Beautiful waterfall!!! Mandatory orange vest or colored shirt. We unfortunately didn’t get to walk the trails today since we didn’t have that color on but did sit by the water which was flowing beautifully this morning.

An amazing place to hike during all seasons. A bit let down today however, the waterfall was bone dry. The trails were gorgeous as always. Completely kid friendly also. We had five children with us, ages 9 to 13.

One of my favorite hikes, I prefer the trails further out away from the lake, more of a hike lots of climbing , all the way around top of the ridges

It was a well maintained path with plenty and of wild critters. Our dog had a great time too.

Great time this morning. The trail is beautiful and well marked. We did the pond loop and will be back to complete the other trails when it is a little less humid.

Great hike with the kids!! From the wild blueberry bushes to the fern gully’s and a possible deer sighting. Kids enjoyed very much. Bugs were a little unpleasant but we got through it.

Nice little spot.

Kids enjoyed the ponds. End of trail near the beaver dam was a little difficult for the kids to get through.

Very nice. Very quite on a Monday morning. trails are left wild and not well marked but easy to follow. Loved it. Will Definatly come back often

Nice place, especially if you have your dogs. I enjoyed it especially the water.

Nice trail, beautiful views of water and streams. Not well marked

Warning: hunting on this land until May 31. The trail has signs warning of hunting and requiring the wearing orange until the end of May.

great place to ride. some easy trails but then there is much more challenging trails. The only thing tho, trails are not marked at all. I enjoy adventures so I dont really care about getting lost. Just ride smart and ride safe.

This is a nice little trail. I suggest parking on 165 at the Frosty Hollow pond area and taking Shelter trail all the way to Ben Utter. You get to pass through the old camping cabins and Steppingstone falls becomes a reward for a 5.5 mile journey through Arcadia. Round trip is a nice almost 12 miles. Great way to spend a day in the woods.

Beautiful woods and ponds. If you follow the suggested itinerary counterclockwise, when arriving near Tarbox Pond it seems to go off-trail, or the trails are no longer maintained, I don't know. I took the blue trail that stays away from Tarbox Pond and I reconnected with the suggested itinerary further south.

start hike from Falls River rd. because they closed the gate to the entrance road... you have to walk a mile and a half just to get to the trail now... on a long dirt road.. not fun.
