If you take the time to walk slow and listen & watch well, you’ll be surprised at how much you see. I thought the trails were great

Nice trail. Great terrain. It had rained the night before my hike so it was slick in spots. You may come across a toy lawn mower stuck in a tree about 2.5 miles in and wonder, like myself, how the hell it got there and why...lol

I did not find this preserve very exciting and the trails were overgrown and hard to follow.

Nothing special but it's a pretty, easy trail to take my dog on a quick nature walk.

Drive this road daily and having driven some truly scenic roads there is nothing extraordinary about this road and I would recommend driving any "country" road over this road. During certain times you can expect nightmarish traffic during the summer due to tourists. Unless you take 1A you will never get a view of anything except trees and an occasional glimpse of normal houses. If driving at night be mindful of the abundance of wildlife on the road.

Long hike really nice in spots but a little more asphalt and dirt roads that are incorporated into the track on app than we would like it takes the fun out of it with traffic and houses. We would go back but just a couple sections of it.

Think this should be described as a service road, rather than a hiking trail. On several occasions, we were scared by the sight of wild drivers speeding and traumatizing any possible wildlife along the way. We were also welcomed by an assortment of condoms and beer/ liquor bottles along the first 1/2 mile of the hike. To add on, the constant chimes of gunshots were unnerving to say the least. More warning that an active hunting season was in place would have been great as well !

Not many people on the trail. If you park at the gps location this takes you to there is a road that intersects the trail so careful if you have pups. Road looks like it hasn't been used but don't know area well enough.

Cool stones walls, 45 min away from me, side trails can be found throughout. Terrain is up and down incline the whole time which is a good workout.

Happy hiking !

This is a short but very beautiful coastal drive along the Atlantic Ocean and Narragansett Bay. And Newport provides many wonderful opportunities to see unique treasures.

Brought my 11 year old lab mix; the dog that sleeps 18 hours a day bounded like a puppy through the woods. Lots of little water crossings, rained the day before so some trail was flooded but easily detoured. Followed the route provided, about 4.5 miles and took about 2 hrs with 2 breaks for water and admiration.

dog friendly ending at the pond for a nice view.

I completed this nice 6.5 mile hike I found at Auntie Beak’s Trail Finder today (12/6/15): http://auntiebeak.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/schoolhouse-pond-trail.pdf. This PDF map is accurate so I won’t bother with a full description. I parked on Kings Factory Road where the Vin Gormely Trail enters back in the woods – approx. 41.390687,-71.678756. This hike incorporates part of the Vin Gormely, Schoolhouse Pond Trail, crosses Kings Factory Road to get to the Schoolhouse Pond, and then back to use a portion of the Vin Gormley to complete the loop. I will upload a couple of pictures. Nice hike on a beautiful day!

Wife, 5yr old and I had a great time although it can be a bit much for the toddlers. Trails were a bit wet from the melting snow so if you are going during a wet period, dress appropriately. There were markers about half way into the hike so it can be a tad tricky navigating. Will go again!

My favorite short hike. You do need to pay attention to all the paths that criss cross. I have gotten lost a couple of times until I became familiar with the trails. I love adding to the cairns that are all over.

A wonderful scenic drive. The traffic is heavy in places but come for the beauty and the charm. If you are in a hurry take I-95.

From Westerly to Plum Point and Narragansett Bay, Routes 1 and 1A are filled with oceanside beauty. Nothing specific, except the smell and sight of the ocean and shore. Also, while I believe that you haven't really experienced the east coast until you've driven Rte 1, I also recognize that much of it is a traffic nightmare. This is just NICE. No huge tourist destinations, unless you turn toward Newport, but a really nice drive.
