This trail is a combination of logging roads and deer trails. Crossing the Billings Mill creek can be tough in high water (impossible). I bring two large trash bags to wear over my boots and pants to keep dry. Once over the creek there are many different trails to pick from. You will end up at the gas line sooner or later. Beautiful scenery especially in the winter. Ticks everywhere any other season.

Did this a few years ago with my brother in law, great hike and view.

Love this place!

This was a beautiful area to hike and explore. We loved the moss covering lots of trees and rocks. The snow on logs and sections of ground was also very picturesque. This is a filmmaker's/photographer's dream zone.

However, there isn't much of a trail to follow. We went in the second week of March. There was a heavy snowstorm a week prior, but the snow was only patchy during our hike. According to Alltrails, the trail goes across the river before starting the loop, but there wasn't anywhere to cross the river safely, so we stayed on the side where the trail started. We tried crossing the river on logs which spanned the river, but they were either too thin or not long enough.

TAKE CAUTION if you're trying to complete this whole trail. The river might be even deeper and wider in the spring and summer.

Great hike! Took my wife and six year old daughter. We started at the canal trail and worked our way down to the rivers shoreline. The river was low enough to allow us to walk our way back to the preserve.

This is PRIVATE PROPERTY and not for public use. We drove an hour to get here, and it is blocked off with a no trespassing sign, and it's posted PRIVATE property all around it. There's even a no parking sign at the only place to pull off, and the State Police showed up when we got out to look around, to make sure we left. This trail should be removed from this site.

This is private property.

they recently cut more of a road on this trail which makes it easier to climb

The trail seems to have been replaced this summer by a wide road, probably for construction equipment. The climb itself was easy enough, but going up such an enormous road instead of a trail was not so beautiful as it must have been earlier. Just be sure to continue on past the summit to a big scar on the other side, where there are many great views of the area.
