beastly climb to top of ridge but worth it. BE CAREFUL OF COPPER HEADS! We came across one sunning itself in the middle of the ridge trail.

fun short hike with a good view once you reach the first vista.

When the rhododendrons are in bloom this trail is breathtaking! This trail has it all: woods, water, wildlife. A truly lovely short hike.

Lots of rocks and roots to navigate around. Would have been a great hike due to all the overlooks, but not ideal for trail running. Quite a few down trees, as well. Watch your step!

Looking forward to using this app. More later.

Not groomed but lots of fun.

Dont come early may if you like seeing leaves on trees. I hiked the blue trail. The views are alright, but mostly shrouded by trees. The trailhead is moderately steep, like your grandma couldnt do it, but your mom probably could. Relative to the Appalacian, this was kinda boring, but to a infrequent hiker, i’d give them a go ahead on this trail.

Great outlooks! Not too long or difficult, but some nice hills too!

Well maintained and marked. Numerous outlooks.

1st time I've hiked in yrs. Coming off the flu bug so started on the Blue trail. not as steep as the White trail. its a good beginners hike with decent outlooks

Best in State College

The actual Alan Seeger loop is only .8 miles. But it is absolutely beautiful. Beautiful old growth Hemlock, countless native rhododendrum, and stone creek , make up this hike. I would be sure to wear higher boots because you will get you feet wet. In some areas the trail was flooded up to my shins this evening. Also this trail is not blazed, so just use your eye and it's pretty easy to stay on track. Especially with the rhododendrum actually forming tunnels over the trail in some placed, makes it difficult to go to far off.

I love this trail! Beautiful views and gives you an awesome workout! ❤

Nice trail. The beginning was a tough incline but it mellowed out. Good hike for a Sunday afternoon.

Very nice hike with great uphill stretch to start, nice segment of mountain ridge trail and then a gradual descent trail to save your knees and close the loop. Did the whole loop on a nice Sunday afternoon and didn't see a single other hiker.

The steps at the beginning provide great cardio. There are a few spots for good views of you peek out between the dense foliage. Perfect distance for me for an after work hike.

Great loop trail if you do both the Blue and White trail. Mt. Nittany has awesome top mountain views from different angles/ directions of the trails. This is one of my favorite trails as it is lengthy and provides different gradations of trail paths and challenges. It was super fun to take on with our two little girls (6 and 10 yrs. old). They were definitely, "Bawses!" Remember to pack protein power snacks and water for your little Bawses as both trails can take about 3 hours to complete.

One of my favorite trail running loops! Deer Path is a great climb!

Very difficult at the start of the hike basically go straight up the steps. Levels off at the very top and is a fairly easy hike from there. The views are worth braving the steps

This is maybe two miles? All trails is letting me down the more I look at the hikes I have done in reference to what is said here.... all in all, it's a gorgeous trail that you can break off of and hop on the mid state toward detwiler run which is more wild and secluded. Be prepared to see some timber rattlers and other amphibious creatures :)

This is far from 7 miles folks, I just did this hike and it was a beautiful one at that! Some power line walking but in order to make a nice trek I had to do musser gap, to frog hollow, then mountain mist to the mid state which I took to Roman tower, down Downer trail out to the high line vista then back through the old reservoir. That all got me 10.2 so don't be fooled, musser gap trail is a nice short hike on a nice flat gravel road unless you take side trails and add alternate trails.

Okay quick day trip. But there are better trails in the surrounding area with more nature views.

We did the entire loop, 3.9 miles. The first mile (steps) is straight up the mountain, a really steep incline, it doesn't level off any until the top. It's a long hard mile, but the views at the top are beautiful. When you get up there follow the trail to the left and it is a fairly level hike with views along the way. The best view is where Pennsylvania Furnace meets the Pump House Road! It's not an easy hike and I'd definitely recommend proper footwear.

Views are okay for the little elevation gain. Rocky but not too bad. Not difficult, but is fairly busy.
