Good trail appropriately classified as moderate with elevation changes. It is a long trail through the woods where you rarely cross any roads or see civilization. However, it is pretty well marked with several escape routes before the end if you want to cut it short and you are never far from the park roads.

I hike this regularly as I live only an hour away and it does not get old since you can alter it a bit each time. On this particular time I did 7 miles out and looped back to the paved walk way at the marina which I took back to car for a total of 14 miles.

I rarely see people on this trail so it is a nice getaway.

Nice paved trail, good for biking, mostly flat, but beware. The ticks are absolutely unreal. Took my pup and pulled 50+ off her ( with zeresto collar). Fortunately, I didn't have any on me. But, I've never seen them that bad anywhere. I stay to McConnell's Mills ( nearby) never have had a problem there ( plus there's a lot more to see).

This is an amazing trail. It has a lot of elevation change but the trail is well-kept and the dirt feels great under the boots!

There were a few miles where the bugs were bothersome and we walked into quite a few webs...but for an 11 mile hike, about 2-3 were a bit annoying.

We will be back to complete the entire trail in the fall to see the changing of the leaves and the disappearance of bugs and super-humidity. We hiked to the docks for lunch and it was so scenic and calm.

We love hiking this trail!!

The paved bike trail within Moraine State Park is 7 miles long (not a loop). It starts at the Bike Rental on North Shore Drive near the park entrance from West Park Road. The paved trail winds along, with some hills, grades, and curves, and many views of the lake. About halfway it passes through Lakeview Beach area, with a disc golf course, playground, and a swimming area (open Memorial Day to Labor Day, swim at your own risk), food concession, and picnic areas. The bike trail ends near Davis Hollow.

We only went out a mile before we turned around but it was such a great trail! It was easily followed and absolutely beautiful. One fair warning is that there were small-game hunters so be sure to wear a bright color. I am definitely planning on going back and completing the entire trail!

I'm not sure how this got a rating of difficult, the hills were not that strenuous and all of the stream crossings and boggy areas had bridges and board walks. I would rate it as moderate. The trail itself is actually very easy to follow and blazed well. The north country trail signs are practically new and even had maps at intersections/road crossings. The paper map found at the trailhead didn't do a good job of showing where the NCT and GRT part ways and intersect, it had them mapped as the same trail, which for the most part it is, but there are a couple areas where they break away from each other. The Jennings Environmental Education Center was very easy to find right on 528 and the shuttle to the trail head was roughly 20 minutes. You'll find the trail on North Shore Dr about a half mile beyond the bike concession stand on your left hand side, big GRT sigh, can't miss it.

Nice quiet walk through the woods

Mtn Bike trails are nice with some very nice easy places, and some Expert level places. New Trails were being made that are more trials oriented last time I was there. Get a Map of the Trails or you will get lost. Once you know the layout though, they are vary easy to navigate.

Roller bladed on the bike trail, with my two daughters (8 & 15) today. Somewhat hilly but not to bad, my 8yo did it with little problems. The leaves are changing, it's very pretty and the lake is calm and quiet.

This is my favorite kind of trail. Woods, water, beauty, a lot of up and down and it has difficult sections and it has easy sections.

This is my idea of a trail. It is a real back to nature trail. If you love the woods and some challenges, this is the place.

It is a truly wonderful trail. I have not hiked it all, but I have not finished the Pacific Crest Trail or the Appellation Trail either.

A wonderful trail but a bit long. There is a shelter on the trail but it must be reserved. It rolls up and down, crosses streams and is rocky in places. I saw a big fat ground hog. With the distance, a very late start and no back-packing permit, I did not go the whole way.

It is a beautiful place to ride. But the nice people who rent the bikes said they don't think there is 46 miles of bike trail.

One can jump onto the North Country Trail near the bicycle concession right off the North Shore exite of Route 422 W. On the other end of Moraine, the North Country Trail may be accessed under the Route 528 Bridge Parking area or at the entry point 1 mile north of the bridge on Route 528 (toward Slippery Rock) at the NCT access point. This is a linear trail. Be prepared to bring two cars to park at both ends of the trail if your desire is not to hike back to your vehicle. There are numerous entry/exit points to the trail throughout the park. The trail is well marked with blue blazes. It is also well used, so that it would be difficult for one to actually lose their way if they chose to hike this trail. Having mentioned the trail usage, I have hiked portions of this trail nearly every Saturday and have rarely seen anybody else on the trail for hours, if at all. The trail itself exhibits some beautiful woods scenery, and one will cross some small creeks, see the lake shore, the marina which is well kept and appealing, a pond or two and perhaps some up-close wildlife. there is even an Adirondack camp on the trail for those who want to do a little ersatz primitive camping (permission required). "No primitive camping permitted in PA state parks unless otherwise posted" At various points, one can almost feel as though they are truly in the "woods" but much of the time, the sound of vehicles is pervasive. Nevertheless, what a great getaway for a few hours just to reset your inner "go" button. The trail does have some climbs but I have found that these do not present a difficult challenge. One might have to stop for a quick rest, but nothing about the hills forces one to have to calculate how in the world they will make it to the top.
