Just hiked this today with my dog (4 month old lab). He loved it just as much as I did. Definitely recommend this trail for someone who’s looking for a beautiful hike with a slight challenge to it. One of the best in the area in my opinion!

Another beautiful trail in the park. Easier hike than the alpha pass trail. Waterfall is a nice payoff at the end.

Great hike, lots of rocks and tree roots to keep you in your toes. A stop in the Grist mill is definitely a plus. I’m just sad that I didn’t do this hike sooner. I will definitely do it again.

Did the trail this morning with 4 kids 5 and under. All were able to make the whole trail walking on their own. It was definitely tricky in spots, and you have to be careful on the narrow spots. But it was absolutely beautiful. Multiple waterfalls along the way, interesting wildlife, and gorgeous scenery along the river the whole way. Definitely worth it!

I accidentally took the short loop which was only about 1.5 miles. It ended up being a blessing in disguise as there were so many bugs on this hot and humid July morning. Save this one for the fall and spring. The lake is pretty.

Easy walk through the woods with some nice views of the lake. It was extremely muddy in some areas though.

Very nice and well maintained trail! This is more of a nature walk than a hike. Go for parts of the gorge trail if you want more of a hike. It’s a nice calm walk through the woods with a few crossings of the creek that are manageable at low water. At the end of Hells Hollow there are some gorgeous falls which, once again, at low water are very easily accessible. We plan to head back after some rain to see the how quick the water moves and how full some of the narrows get!

Gorgeous scenery, hike loop is short but a good workout, easy to access, close to cities.
PLEASE NOTE - very dangerous, slippery rocks (hence the creek name) next to whitewater current creek. Respect the dangers and stay on the trail.

Great hike, like lots of others said, just watch your footing. My (newly) 4 year old hiked the whole trail, with me holding her hand for most of the uneven terrain but enough space for me to walk with her. My husband had our 2 year old in a backpack carrier. She did the flatter areas at the beginning and end by both bridges. Kids loved the little waterfalls and saw a newt.

Had a great hike on this trail, even stretched over to backend of Slippery Rock Gorge trail, another fun hike. This one has a nice trade off; while there are few uphill “pushes” one must be aware as it consistent in its embedded rocks and endless winding tree roots. Stay aware! But get yourself on this trail soon.

Had so much fun with my 4 boys on this trail! We spent some extra time crawling around on the rocks, playing on the beach, and watching kayakers.

Beautiful trail! Well marked trail, beautiful wild flowers, streams, springs, and waterfalls!

Took a mix of the short and long loop on accident, it can be a bit complicated if you aren’t using a map or the app. All in all there’s some nice hills, a bit of wildlife, nice mix between mud grass rocks and a few little bridges as well. Nice scenic views of Lake Arthur especially the bit that is basically right on the shore. Seems like a good place for a dog walk or for a family hike too.

Great hike, rocky so you definitely need to watch your footing. But beautiful views the whole way.

This was a great hike. Lots of rocky terrain, my Girl and I took our dog and had a blast.. backside of the loop has a lot more rocky terrain and climbing. Great photo spots along the way.

I didn’t see a place to ask questions so I suppose I’ll use this... I’ve been on this trail a few times and all but once, the creek was mild and it was easy access to the waterfall. We’ve always stopped at the waterfall and turned around. I’ve seen people come from the other direction while at the falls. One time we went, the water was to high at the waterfall to cross at the bottom of the steps. Can anyone provide directions to come from the other side. I would love to see the waterfall when the water is high!

Absolutely beautiful hike with loads of scenic spots. the one side of the trail may be harder especially for kids, but is easily passable.

Nice scenery but very heavily trafficked. To many people for me.

Beautiful trail. Not very long. Open and scenic ending with a picturesque waterfall. Great for children, dogs. Great for seniors except for the stairs down to the foot of the falls.

Great loop walking along the creek the entirety of the hike. Easy-moderate. Not much elevation change except at beginning/end, but there are a few squirrelly spots with slippery rock in narrow passages (pun intended). Definitely muddy and some points where our boots got wet from shallow running water down the hill.

It’s a nice little hike. Even with several inches of snow on the ground. It’s absolutely beautiful!

Beautiful rock formations, well kept trails. I can't wait to go back.

Easy trail for those with young kids. My 3 year old did the entire trail without stopping. My 2 year old could have walked it if she wanted but chose the easy ride in and out in the backpack. Trail is well marked and taken care of. There are wooden bridges over the stream crossings and a nice set of stairs that leads down to the waterfall base. Be prepared to get your feet a little wet if you hike in sneakers and want to go to the base. The stairs let you out in the stream so if it is at all high you’ll have wet feet. Looks like the area would be prone to flash flooding so be mindful of the weather and conditions before going to the base.

This was out first time on this trail and we were pleasantly surprised. The views are beautiful and the trail intices you to get close to the waters edge. I am looking forward to coming back when the sun is HOT, but even with the cool temps I worked up a sweat.
