Lovely bike ride- Allegheny River on one side and Mountain Laurel along most of the way on the other side. Blooms in June. Lovely scenic easy ride.

This is a typical Rails Trail, meaning, flat and straight. Although there are some great river views and history along the trail, I wouldn't want to walk it. I'd rather walk the Sandy Creek or Allegheny River Trails that connect. Better yet, head a little north to Oil Creek State Park or Two mile state park to find more rustic trails.

In some locations this is listed as part of the Allegheny River Trail but here in Franklin it is considered separate. I put the trailhead in Oil City but you can also enter the trailhead in Franklin. This is an okay trail. Probably more enjoyable by bikers. Lovely river views. Should be gorgeous in the fall. Nothing challenging or remarkable. Just a pleasant long afternoon walk.
