Beautiful trail and a fairly easy march for my wife and I as well as our kids aged 6,8,10,12,14, and 16. Stay off the flat rocks before the second dam. They were a little slick. I fell hard and broke my shoulder. Completely on me... Learn from my mistake.

Nice trail with a great variety of things to look at and picturesque spots.

Hiked on a humid Sunday evening. The trail was empty with only a few people at the falls. The trail to the falls is easy, but getting to the pools below is definitely challenging. Not sure if there’s an easier way to get to the bottom. The water is very cold but refreshing and the scenery is fantastic.

Very easy hike to see a beautiful waterfall. However, this time of year there were a ton of people there swimming and blocking the path. Would go again later in the year.

Really easy trail. Hardest part was walking back up the hill to the car. I would not recommend going after it has rained. Definitely muddy near the bottom. Good for dogs and even kids.

I didn’t go on the actual hike, but we checked out the field and the boards by it. Definitely worth coming to because it was an awesome view and it had interesting history. Check it out!

A bit steeper than we expected, but a beautiful trail.

My boyfriend & I camped at Hickory Run State Park and decided to walk over and check out ‘Shades of Death’.
I’m glad we did. This was a nice, mostly shaded trail with several scenic water areas.

Great fun. Interesting and challenging. Great falls and sights. Loved it.

Easy out and back 1 mile each way. A little rocky and plenty of tree roots which is normal for northeastern PA. Beautiful waterfall and runs along the stream. Be careful not to let your phone fall into the stream!

My son and i do many different trails and decided for an easy walk to hawk falls and we were pretty disappointed when we got to the falls and found a huge group of people with coolers of beer and even a grill going. Music blasting etc. We couldn’t even get to the water to cool off. Please don’t get me wrong i love bbq’s and some cold beer but i believe there is a time and place. Personally i don’t feel the trails are the place to be partying especially when people bring small children for the experience and to come up to that was very disappointing. .

I see a lot of people complaining about the amount of hikers on this trail. The key is to get there earlier and avoid them. My family and I had the whole trail to ourselves on a gorgeous June morning and were able to explore all of the little paths off to the side. We did not see another person until we headed back. We had a blast! Bring Crocs or water shoes to wade in the water but wear sneakers for the hike due to the rockiness.

We went through the whole trail in about an hour. it was very crowded though, with tourists. all in all. easy trail.

My five and eight year old kids did well on this trail. It's a really cool hike with a lot of scenery! It took about 2 hours overall and we clocked 3.44 miles from start to finish. We did this in the rain and it was still beautiful and worth the time! This is one of the best hikes we have done as a family!

We took our five and eight year old children on this trek. It was quite the challenge as it took over three hours with their little legs. Using a fitness tracker, we clocked in 7.22 miles! The kids were good spirited about it and felt proud at the end of the hike. I would not recommend taking young children if they do not have the right attitude that day! Bring plenty of healthy snacks and water to keep them motivated!

Beautiful scenery. Well worth the hike. There are some muddy areas and can be very rocky at times. The trail is clearly marked and could be used by all hiking levels; you just may have to take your time on some of the rocks and inclines. The waterfalls though are amazing!!!! My dog did very well here too.

Not easy but very nice trail. Rockier than we thought...beautiful waterfall

Nice trail!

Awesome trail. I wouldn’t say it’s easy but then again I hiked it while pregnant. Beautiful waterfalls throughout the trail. Highly recommend.

Was very disappointed in this trail. I would not consider it easy as there were many rocks to avoid and there were places where we actually needed to do a bit of climbing. Very nervous with a 5 year old and a dog, and nervous for the older adults doing the trail. It was also incredibly crowded and the you came out the same way you came in, so you were fighting two-way traffic.

It was a cool little loop with a waterfall. Nice for a light trail jog.

Beautiful trail went on a Sunday in early summer and wasn’t too crowded kinda steep though so make sure you wear proper shoes this was my first time hiking in 7 years and I had a lot of fun!

Recommended. The trail is very wet. More than the Falls Trail at Rickets Glen. Very scenic though and pretty short. Great for kids.

Not as nice as I expected. Pretty wet trail and not really much of a vista even at the picnic table. Fairly boring. There wasn't anyone really on the trail compared to Shades of Death which is a more scenic, shorter, and popular trail.

Beautiful trail, easy to follow, lovely waterfalls

A great trail not far from home. In my opinion the most scenic trail in Hickory Run State Park. Don t let the name intimidate you, A great short hike if you are in the area.

Easy and beautiful trail. Well kept.

Easy trail. Clearly marked with yellow blaze.

It was nice. Creek is beautiful. Little to easy though for my liking. The scenery and setting really feels like Hobbit land. Lot of mossy rocks and paths. Cool waterfalls along the way.
