HikingGreat!

Easy hike. Hard to find trail head. From the main parking lot, travel down dirt road approx. 1 mile. Go down the hill about 1/10th of a mile. Trailhead on right. White arrow on tree-is faded and you will miss if not paying close attention. I posted a pic of the arrow in the photo section. It is about 1/2 mile to overlook. Beautiful views.

I don’t know if this trail is still closed or not. All the signs that were once there have been removed, not sure if by other hikers or the gaming commission themselves though. We decided to chance it as experienced hikers and I’m glad we did. It is the challenge that I like when a hike involved physi

Challenging trail! Definitely worth it. As someone else mentioned, make sure your phone is fully charged so you can check with the app often. A few places were unclear and after the beginning section, there were no blazes. Waterfalls were spectacular. I didn’t realize how many!! One of my favorite hikes to date.

easy trail! Very hard to find trail head! you have to drive about a mile or so into the game lands, no worries lots of spots to park! Trail head is on your right with a white arrow in a tree!! If you choose to walk from thr main enterence of the game lands and dont drive in your walking on a dirt road? most of the time.

I'm not an experienced hiker so this trail wore me out. I had to take a couple short breaks going up the Overlook Trail. I went down through the Onoko Trail. Nice waterfalls. A couple spots i took my time and trying to be extra careful going down. Good thing I wore hiking boots.

Obviously the view is fantastic. During hunting season more parking is available if you want to park in the gravel road area and you won't have to walk much. I wasted lots of time trying to find the trailhead- personally i drove past it then needed to walk back and forth to find it lol. Along with a white arrow on a tree on right side, there is also a sign that recommends wearing orange. And there is a trail opening.

Kids voted this 9/10. Was worth doing this version of the trail for the overlook.

Very easy and relaxing trail to hike. The only hard part was finding the right spot to turn. Other then that it was all pretty straight forward. Definitely worth the view once you get to the end.

There are two vista points. The trail shown here takes you to the north facing vista with views of the river and the railroad. If you make a left on the Upper Switchback Trail and walk to the poured concrete structure, you get a south facing vista with beautiful views of the town of Jim Thorpe.

Great, Fast, Rewarding Hike! To Find TrailHead ....Pull into hunting parking lot "Buzzard Point" You can park there in the first hunting/parking posts or follow the road untill you reach final hunting/parking post (depends on how much time you have. ) at this point yo u will walk down the gravel rode and in about a mile you'll see a small entrance into the woods. Tree Marked with white arrow.

Our family of five loved this trail (includes an 11, 10 and 6 year old). Would highly recommend taking the left fork, passing the closed signs and hiking up along the falls (vs coming down along the falls). We managed fine in sneakers but would agree with the difficulty rating!!! We are a pretty active family and this trail and its terrain were no joke!!! It was a dry weekend and we were cautious, but we absolutely understand the need for signs and warnings!

Mountain bikingGreat!

Click the link to my recording below for a photomap and GPS coordinates to the parking lots. The Lehigh Gorge rail trail is a very level and hard packed trail to easily ride bikes, push strollers, walk a dog, jog, etc. It does get busy on the weekends because it is such a beautiful and scenic area since the Lehigh River runs along it the entire length. There are plenty of whitewater rafters and fishermen using the water as well, so this is a haven for all types of nature lovers. At the time I was there (November), the town of Jim Thorpe was running steam train excursions, so many people were taking advantage of the beautiful fall foliage, and I got to see an historical steam train pass by. You can check out my other recording of the Glen Onoko Falls loop that I hiked. I highly recommend doing anything in this area, because it is that "gorge"ous!!! There are several large parking lots in one area (see my recording for GPS parking coordinates), but they can get full on a beautiful weekend. There is also a May you always find peace in the scent of fresh air, in the way breeze feels against your skin, in the glistening reflection of a splashing creek, and in the sound of wind in the trees. Stay humble. Stay kind. Stay thankful. Keep hope. Keep smiling. Keep laughing. Love and respect nature, because that is where you will find a true lifetime of happiness! Also love and respect everyone who crosses your path. There is a reason why they did. If I see you on the trail, I promise to say "Hi" :-)

First time doing this trail. We did the loop and started out going up the closed section first. We just walked around the closed signs, like a lot of others did today. This is the harder section, and is best to go up first since the terrain is trickier and a lot more slippery. It’s easier to handle this going up. The trail is steep in parts, but not too bad. Just be careful of your footing, especially with the leaves covering the trail. Beautiful at the top of the falls as well as the overlook just before the descent.

HikingClosed

Rangers decided to enforce closing the trail today. But they’re waiting half way up the trail so you have go back down the steep part which seems more dangerous than continuing going up. If you really don’t want people to go, stand at the bottom or get a real fence that actually blocks it off.
