I thought this was an easy hike when you’re short on time, like I am today. The trail was rocky and a little muddy, so wear appropriate shoes. The views are nice at the top. Some of the rocks have graffiti on them. Several stink bugs landed on me today. I did see a hawk (I think, I’m not a bird person). People were there with binoculars, so if you are a bird person, it’s a good place to see them.

Awesome little hike!

This is a nice, easy day hike with excellent views! The trail is wide and relatively flat, making this great for beginners. While the trail to get there is fairly nondescript, the overlook at Bear Rocks is fantastic! Getting to the top requires a fair bit of scrambling on the Shawangunk Conglomerate outcrop, but it is well worth it! In short, a trail well worth doing!

Quick hike, good incline. Rocky towards the top. Breath taking views!

Very quick hike, but get ready for breathtaking views!!

Bake Oven Knob is a bit of a mixed bag. The lookout is spectacular, with expansive views on both sides. The climb up is also very easy, taking only about ten minutes. However, this easy climb means that the area is frequently very crowded, and there is lots of graffiti. The great views, short climb, and abundant wildlife viewing opportunities (birds, snakes, insects, etc.) make this hike very much worthwhile, despite its shortcomings.

One of my favorite sections of the AT in the area. This is a very rocky section, but if your definition of fun is getting on all fours to scramble across a rock field (The Knife's Edge) then this hike is for you. Definitely check out Bear Rocks. The climb is worth the panoramic views you get at the top. If you're camping out, I would highly recommend the campsite just beyond New Tripoli; just beyond the power lines when hiking south.
