SNAKES.... was fun and nerve racking crossing over. Sunny day snakes where basking and swinging all around.

Beautiful trail. If you go counterclockwise, after you cross the shallow creek and reach the dam, you have to walk across the dam to follow the trail. Gorgeous views of the lake, beaver activity, mossy rocks, so pretty. It’s an easy trail except it’s rocky.

The path to the lake was very nice, however you should probably turn around there. Very overgrown and ticks everywhere. Decided to try to venture in hopes of the path clearing up but turned around at the small bridge after pulling 6 ticks off (between the dog and myself). Not recommended!! Use the Egypt Meadow trail that one is much nicer!

"LOTS OF TICKS". The loop around Bruce lake is very overgrown and I should have known to turn around but thought it would eventually clear up. We ended up pulling 20 ticks off of my dog and probably 10 off of myself. Views aren't worth the Bruce lake loop portion but the rest of the trail was nice. I'd recommend hiking out to the lake loop but instead of turning right and looping around Bruce lake I'd continue straight and picnic at one of the campsites at the top of the lake. All things considered, I don't hate this loop. I think the Bruce lake portion with some maintainance would be very nice but at the moment you're bushwhacking a good 2 mile portion. And so many ticks.

DO NOT HIKE THIS UNLESS YOU WANT TICKS EVERYWHERE. The first part of the trail was fine with an open trail, but the second part around Bruce lake itself was completely overgrown. My significant other, my dog, and I fought through the shrubbery with scratches all over our bodies. We also noted leaves that were likely poisonous all over the trail. We also almost stepped on a snake in the midst of the overgrown path. We also left the hike with SO MANY TICKS everywhere; under our clothes, on our dog, attached to our skin. I’ve done many hikes through NH and VT and never in my life have I pulled off so many ticks from my body. BE CAREFUL if you do this trail.

Need to bring shoes, there is a creek have to cross that if you don’t have balance you will fall in.

Very nice hike around a beautiful scenic lake. Much shorter than the given mileage, we timed it a little over 2 miles, so we took a loop around the Snowshoe Trail. Very peaceful and lots of animals along the way. Great night outdoors.

Easy hike with running water and well marked, a bit soggy. But I puzzle about the out and back portion of this loop which basically ends in what appears to be the midst of a trail but on closer inspection seems to be the end of the public land. Still, hiking further along the river would have been a much better option.

Lovely trail on a perfect day! Recent rain meant the trail was a bit muddy or boggy in spots but nothing one couldn’t easily manage. On the positive side, the recent rains meant the creek was spectacular with plenty of rushing white water. It was a little buggy today but if you have a hat net or big spray, the pesky little May flies were also not an issue. I was surprised the trail was not at all crowded. Here and there we passed a few others out enjoying the day. This is the kind of hike where you should bring a camera and take your time picking your way along with lots of scenic photo opportunities. We started on the left hand side of the loop from the trail head eventually returning along the opposite side of the creek. Two well made foot bridges allow for easy crossings. After your hike, take a short drive over to the wildlife observation station for a potential eagle sighting. There is a nesting pair of eagles in the park and their current nest has been in use since 2017. If you’ve packed a lunch, Promised Land park has lots of options for a scenic picnic spot.

lots of bug , but a very peaceful walk

Download the route before arriving. Poor 3G reception in the area. Pretty trail and falls. Some bugs near the start and finish. Bringing netting for your head would be useful.

4/18/2020. R. AMC. Great hike. There was a slight snow covering with lots of rocks and green moss and ferns. The lake is so pretty. We were here a few weeks ago and the lake was frozen and towards the end the stream was tricky to cross but the water was below the rocks a tad so we were able to cross. Today however the water was higher so we found walking sticks and balanced on logs and found a few rocks and made it across.

Great trail and accessible for most. Muddy in spots but very lush greenery everywhere. Visible trout and lots of twists and turns with intimate waterfalls

Great hike offering wide trails (looks like an overgrown road) offering easy walking with not many physical obstacles. The trail is marked extremely well and easy to follow. We hiked to Bruce Lake and back and found it very peaceful and scenic. The only down side is when you get closer to Bruce lake you begin to hear the noise from the highway.

80% of this marked route is very nice. Very pleasant and wide paths. The entire trail is well marked with blue blazes and was easy to find and navigate. Unfortunately the south and southwest parts of the trail around the lake are very overgrown. As this was still winter conditions, I would think it is nearly impassable once the bushes and undergrowth fill in. I would walk tor the lake and around from the north to the East until the trail narrows and then turn back around.

It's been years since I've gone all the way around. There is a reason that route isn't very popular! I took Brown Trail to Rocky Oak Ridge to Bruce Lake Trail. For miles, I pushed through encroaching mountain laurels and rhododendrons, which form tunnels and had me entirely surrounded with only brief breaks. Things cleared up once I neared Bruce Lake, but the trail was still overgrown with small bare bushes. The lake is a lovely sight. The main path connecting Bruce Lake to Egypt Meadow Lake is fairly monotonous but at least there is plenty of room to walk! Took me 3.5 hours to complete. I don't recommend going all the way around unless this sort of adventure appeals to you. The area is gorgeous but there are better ways to enjoy it; the trails around Egypt Meadow Lake are more enjoyable.
