This is a really nice, short hike. The trail gets rough, in spots, on the backside as it descends to Boone Run. I think that this would be a great “introductory” hike for anyone unfamiliar with the topography that is characteristic of this area. Especially, with its proximity to both the Little Pine S.P. and Happy Acres camping areas. I’ll do this one again in mid April, hopefully there will be a more clear view of the park then!

The Love Run portion of this hike is a stroll along an old logging road of gradually deteriorating quality as it meets up with the Mid State trail and climbs up through Hell Hollow. The Panther Run portion of this loop is far more exciting. Like most trails in this part of the state, it features one heck of a climb up to the top. There is a great view from the rocks at the top on Panther Run, but be very watchful through the rock formations as you begin the descent, I saw 5 Rattle Snakes in that area today-BIG ones! There is an active logging operation going on, right now, at the trail head. I had to do a little bushwhacking to avoid the heavy equipment at the end of the hike. I’ll do this one again.

Moderately difficult but so worth it. We continued on to Love Run instead of making the loop back down, it's a little longer of a hike then. We also snuck up on a buck! The trail got it's name for a reason.

Nice climb! We did the love to the panther loop. It was hard to get a good view through the trees but the rock formations were awesome!

This is a nice day hike trail with a short steep climb and a few rocky descents. We started at the parking lot for the eagle viewing area, from there we hiked up the dirt road that leads to a cabin in the woods. Then we joined up with the Mid-State Trail and followed that to where it connects with the Panther Run Trail, which we followed back down the mountain to where we began, making it a moderate 3 mile trek.

You need to know to turn at the cabin in the woods. Follow the dang stream. We started at Panther Run Trail and climbed that mountain then connected to Love Run but missed that turn as it is not marked. We climbed a big long mountain because of this then meandered up on the Mid States for a mile or so before bush whacking back down to Love Run. Don't make this mistake. It added lots of hiking tough terrain and added miles to our hike. Make sure you turn back down at the cabin you come to in the woods, don't cross the little wood bridge and don't go that way. It is not the way. Follow the driveway thing at the cabin, that is the Love Run Trail. Otherwise it is a nice hike. Our bad decision made it MUCH more difficult than it is. Have fun, watch for snakes and be safe!!

Was not mapped out very well, no signs to turn at the cabin.. that's essential. We went in the love run trail and ended up coming back out on the panther run trail.
