Fun trail with some rock gardens. Only 1.25 miles to where it intersects with Sweet Root trail.

Very beautiful in the beginning with rhododendrons over a stream. Then it opens to a wide uphill trail which will have nice views in the fall.

This was an extremely easy trail to follow. We parked just below Kings Gap Environmental Education Center after getting a description of the trail from a ranger. The trail starts at the trail head marked for Maple Hollow and Scenic Vista trails. Follow Scenic Vist trail heads until it splits off to the right. You'll continue straight ahead following the yellow blazes. There are a few spots where the blazes are basically in the middle of an intersection which was annoying, but common sense proved to be all that we needed and we'd see another yellow blaze down the path we'd chosen.

Maybe 1.5 miles in, the trail crosses Ridge Rd. Just as the ranger said, it looks a little confusing, but just walk across the rd and it will be clear where the trail starts off from again.

We combined this hike with a walk past Fuller Lake onto the Appalachian Trail and a visit to Pole Steeple above Laurel Lake before hiking back along Cold Springs Rd before retracing our steps for the last 1.5 miles to our car. Buck Ridge itself is 6 miles one way. We ended up hiking around 14.8 (including the two miles we hitch hiked to avoid getting stuck in the woods at nightfall.)
