Easy, with only couple of moderate hills. Some spots are rocky, so mind your ankles. Trails are fine, but the signage leaves a lot to be desired. We have hiked here on a number of occasions and the signage has not improved. The new maps no longer include blaze colors for trail markings. I don't understand this at all. People who hike regularly, especially around here with the AT so accessible, are accustomed to using the colored-blaze system. I am guessing this is a funding issue. I would strongly encourage the Governor and State Legislature to appropriate more funds for the State Park System to facilitate these kinds of necessary improvements in our state park system.

wonderful views for such a short hike. was a fun time at the little scramble at top. if you're into birding this place is a must.

Nice little trail, the whole King's Gap area is good but not for a hiker looking for something more adventurous. More geared toward kids.

Beautiful trail. Walked our dog through this easy 2.3 mile hike. Loved listening to the stream as we passed through.

It starts at a school. We parked in a residential area and at first it wasn’t what we expected. It goes under a highway and past some houses but starts to get very pretty approaching the quarry which the trail also runs right through. The trail use to be an old railroad. The variety of sights we saw were well worth the hour drive to this little trail!

Definitely need good, sturdy hiking boots on. It's all rocks, all the way up. It's .4mi but straight up. It does have a less steep path but not much difference than going straight up. Requires climbing rocks for the view. If heading down make sure to stop by the amphitheater and another nice overlook! Picnic tables under a pavilion and picnic tables along trail as well. Beautiful views!!! Good birdwatching.

Only 4 of 5 stars due to poor signage in a few spots, but other than that a great hike today. A few spots, I thought, were on the harder side of moderate. Didn't see many animals, but it was 87 degrees so perhaps they were staying in the shade.

Awsome moderate hike

"Kings Gap Loop" trail is not actually a trail, it is a combination of about 7 different trails. If you want to do the actual Kings Gap Loop you will need to bring one of the maps provided for free, because you change trails and come to many intersections while hiking. The trails are poorly marked, but this is not a large issue because the all of the trails are well traveled and easy to follow.
I did enjoy the fact that you can do a custom hike because there are so many trails to choose from, making the hike as long or short or as hard or easy as you want.

Very tough depending which trail you take but it's very worth it in the end. Make sure you bring a lot of water and bug spray. Amazing views

Awesome trail! Well maintained. I saw exactly zero trash along the trail.

It's not very well marked. It would be easy to get turned around without GPS. The provided maps left something to be desired.

Scenic Vista trail, and Ridge Overlook trail had some great views. The whole hike was beautiful. There was only one short steep section on the path we took.

We saw four Common Five Lined Skinks, a ~3ft black snake, countless Spicebush Swallowtail butterflies, and one very startled Whitetail deer.

Excellent hike. Will definitely go again.

An old favorite. I've been all over this mountain and still find new things to see.

my favorite trail to run on

You are right it is wrong. I live in Mechanicsburg and it takes me 25 minutes to get there. If you are on Main Street Mechanicsburg, PA, keep going down Main until it turns into W Trindle Road (route 641). Then you get into in town Carlisle this same road becomes E. High Street, make a right in N. College Street and a few blocks down turn left onto B Street (route 74). 74 turns into Waggoners Gap Rd and this takes you up a while into the mountains and then you will see on your right a parking entrance. And Enjoy!

It's a great loop trail. Clearly marked. A color coded map and an amazing view at the top!! I have done this a few times now; at sunset, morning, and a foggy fall morning! It's amazing
