Carlisle, Pennsylvania Map

Nice hike this past Sunday. It wasn't foggy at the bottom but very thick fog up at the top so I'll have to go back to see the overlook. This trail was pretty smooth and less rocks than when I'm used to on the AT in PA. Fairly level until the last half mile or so. Easy parking.

Very short easy hike. Would be easy enough for kids. Nice views at the top!

I'm not experienced hiking but seemed good to me I enjoyed.

Not much for scenery and lots of mosquitoes. Clean and beautiful.

Quick and easy hike to the top. Trail markings are on the stones so during the fall, it can blend into to the fallen leaves. Not as much of an issue to this overlook but others on the trail are hard to see. Great hike for kids. Bird watchers are usually there. Stones with all the rain this year have loosen up a little bit (sept 2018). So be careful with the ankles.

Nice walk through woods and uphill to look-out. The stop for the view has stone 'bench' and is a good place to sit. View is nice - not spectacular, but nice. Absolutely beautiful examples of fungi along the trail.

Nice trail run.

wonderful tapestry after the I-81 underpass. well shaded. 3.8 miles of easy hike.

Nice overlook. Pretty canopy. Very pleasant hike with streams, wild blueberries, toads and white tailed deer.

Drove almost 2-hours to experience the trails in this park. Very disappointing overall with the trails! Tried several trials and all seemed very poorly marked; a lot of down trees blocking the trial that appeared to be there for a few weeks. Attempted the Maple Hollow Trail as well, but it was so overgrown towards the start of the trail and poorly marked that we abandoned that trail and went on this one. Overall, a very disappointing hiking experience at this park.

Difficultly finding trails not well marked download map and follow during transitions. Nice view. Little wildlife not much bird activity.

trail was rocky and muddy in some spots, lots of adventure for kids. trail cuts off into a lot of additional trails, occasionally spots of the trail were narrow and starting to over grow. we did however see a partial deer skeleton along the trail, but did not look recent. saw a few deer along the way.

Beautiful hike with great views!

Easy, with only couple of moderate hills. Some spots are rocky, so mind your ankles. Trails are fine, but the signage leaves a lot to be desired. We have hiked here on a number of occasions and the signage has not improved. The new maps no longer include blaze colors for trail markings. I don't understand this at all. People who hike regularly, especially around here with the AT so accessible, are accustomed to using the colored-blaze system. I am guessing this is a funding issue. I would strongly encourage the Governor and State Legislature to appropriate more funds for the State Park System to facilitate these kinds of necessary improvements in our state park system.

wonderful views for such a short hike. was a fun time at the little scramble at top. if you're into birding this place is a must.

The view is obstructed by trees, there are better views in the area. Good hike for kids though.

Nice little trail, the whole King's Gap area is good but not for a hiker looking for something more adventurous. More geared toward kids.

Beautiful trail. Walked our dog through this easy 2.3 mile hike. Loved listening to the stream as we passed through.

It starts at a school. We parked in a residential area and at first it wasn’t what we expected. It goes under a highway and past some houses but starts to get very pretty approaching the quarry which the trail also runs right through. The trail use to be an old railroad. The variety of sights we saw were well worth the hour drive to this little trail!

Great view in fall. The view is obstructed by trees in the summer. My wife and I hiked to the vista and continued on to do the loop back to the mansion. Had a great 5 mile hike! One negative is that the trails are not well marked. Some areas are and others it is like a guessing game. Been hiking there for 4 years and have told Park personnel that there trails need to be marked better.

Definitely need good, sturdy hiking boots on. It's all rocks, all the way up. It's .4mi but straight up. It does have a less steep path but not much difference than going straight up. Requires climbing rocks for the view. If heading down make sure to stop by the amphitheater and another nice overlook! Picnic tables under a pavilion and picnic tables along trail as well. Beautiful views!!! Good birdwatching.

Only 4 of 5 stars due to poor signage in a few spots, but other than that a great hike today. A few spots, I thought, were on the harder side of moderate. Didn't see many animals, but it was 87 degrees so perhaps they were staying in the shade.
