My backpacking buddy and I completed this hike June 17, 2018. I had hiked there years ago and the experience was the same. Wonderful! There are some uphills and downs so I guess the moderate rating is on the mark. we hiked into the Morrison camping area for the night on the 16th and hiked out the next day. I rated this as 4 stars because on the way out we skirted much area that had been logged out and the trail was very tight with brush and small growth. These tight areas were made even more difficult because of the constant rain on the way out. trail maintenance is lacking in certain areas but over all it was a fun time.

Not just one trail!
You can go on a short hike, very easy, around the lake. You can also go much further on other trails. (I took a pic of the map) Very well maintained. It's obvious the locals take pride. All around a great trail. I will go back again with my 6 yr old and go on additional trails.

Very nice hike out in the middle of nowhere, you follow a small stream most of the way. Some spots of the trail are overgrown but not too bad and you can easily find the trail the whole time, it's marked with silver/gray diamonds and signs at forks connecting to other trails/loops. If you want a longer loop, take the Rimrock extension.

We enjoyed this hike very much. The forest is beautiful, and the stream too. There were a lot of down trees across the trail that my daughter enjoyed hurdling. Me? Not so much. So, I just thought I would warn you. The bugs were a nuisance, but once out of the forest and near the reservoir they were gone. We had planned to hike to Hopewell and Handsome Lake just to check them out for possible overnight trips, but decided to just sit on the side of the hill and watch the boats on the reservoir while we ate lunch. This is one of those trails I will love to hike in the fall

nice hike, on the easy end of the moderate scale. only downside was the sparse hard to find trail heads but we only lost the trail twice and made it out fine. I would definitely go back for a round 2!

Loved this trail! Even with crossing the creek numerous times, it is beautiful, serene, and finally wore by dogs out! Great trail!

Love this place. Packing out sucked, but live and learn. Great campsites along the trail. Very peaceful.

We hiked here on a warm day in late December. The trail was traversable but there were a few difficult icy spots. An adult could easily identify these areas but small children who are still grasping the how-tos of hiking may not. The scenery was quiet, quaint and beautiful. It would be an easier hike in seasons without snow or after a considerable warm period where the snow has time to melt more.

This trail is great year round. Very peaceful, and starts out fairly easy then gets a little more difficult from there. I recommend going in the summer when the reservoir is full, and the ferns are green.

I'm a big fan of this trail! Perfect for a day hike or an overnight if you're up for some backpacking. Gorgeous overlooks, mountain laurel and mushrooms when in season, great variety of landscapes.

I really like the set up of this trail. Starts with a nice 6 mile saunter following the creek down to the waterfront where there are a few fairly well-maintained camping plots. Ended up staying the night in my hammock and following the ridge line back to the parking lot. Some good views of the resevoir but not alot of great overlooks on the trails. Still a very pleasant nature walk. Would return.

This is a flat crushed rock trail that circles the reservoir. The scenery is beautiful and there are often people fishing (particularly in the winter there will be people out ice fishing). The trailhead begins at a covered bridge where you can watch the water cascade down the spillway. Continuing on around the circle you will enter portions of wooded areas and cross two long (and scenic) wooden bridges. Lastly, for those looking for longer hikes, there are a number of other trails that connect into this one ranging from easy to moderate in difficulty, from 3-4 miles in length to 10+ depending on the route you choose.

Beautiful mountains and valleys. I was surprised to see Montana powder snow out here on the east coast but I was told by a local that it is quite common in this part of Northwestern Pennsylvania.
