You can go up a steeper spot where it’s a climbing route. Really nice place to see a great view.

Great loop walking along the creek the entirety of the hike. Easy-moderate. Not much elevation change except at beginning/end, but there are a few squirrelly spots with slippery rock in narrow passages (pun intended). Definitely muddy and some points where our boots got wet from shallow running water down the hill.

Short steep climbs with level grades in between. We did this as an overnight with a side trip into Ketchum Run Gorge, which I highly recommend. There is a west facing campsite at the edge of the gorge that the trail passes by. If you want to be treated to an amazing sunset, camp here. You can also hike down into the gorge. There is a small waterfall there. Very nice outing.

beautiful country

It’s a nice little hike. Even with several inches of snow on the ground. It’s absolutely beautiful!

Beautiful lake.

NOT a loop trail. When you get to the dam you can’t cross the water and have to double back. The trail the other way was a little eroded.

Great views from the top!

Nice moderate hike to a great overlook of the area.

Beautiful rock formations, well kept trails. I can't wait to go back.

Nice hike on a cool December day.

Beautiful day, had the trail to myself all day. The rocks looked a little intimidating shortly after passing Double Run, but really turned out to be no big deal. The view at the top is worth it, and hiking down via the Loyalsock Link Trail was a perfect way to end the day.

Pretty easy hike and the view at the top is incredible!

on Kildoo Trail

This was out first time on this trail and we were pleasantly surprised. The views are beautiful and the trail intices you to get close to the waters edge. I am looking forward to coming back when the sun is HOT, but even with the cool temps I worked up a sweat.

steep first then long rd.

The description and trail map is not accurate. The actual Spirit Trail head is in Tuscarora State Park and it's an out and back trail approx 2.0 miles long. The loop around the lake is called the Lake View Trail. These two trails do not intersect.

Park at the Pole Steeple parking lot. Short hike to a great view. A few somewhat steep climbs initially, but nothing extreme. A well used path easily identified by the blue blazes. Take the easy path to the right near the top to avoid the rock scramble to the left/ahead. Follow the blue blazes south from the outcrop to the white blazes of the Appalachian trail for an extended hike. Move west on the AT thru the woods. This will bring you out to the Old Railroad Bed Road for an easy walk back to the parking lot. It will feel further than it really is... Maps are available at the park info boards to illustrate the route. I did the trail in a pair of Crocs in mid October.

trails need some signage!

Beautiful scenery the entire trail! Bring your trekking sticks! ?

trail running

Much of what I traveled was essentially a bike lane along the road. Many cyclists were confused to see someone running against traffic but the trail was only on one side of the road so there was no avoiding it. The scenery was nice, especially the lake views.

No matter what trail I hike that has a scenic vista, Pole Steeple will always be my favorite. It's such a minimum amount of effort (short hike, some incline) for the greatest reward.

Short but steep hike. I went in the evening to avoid crowds. Great view over the late.

Nice hike. My family enjoyed it. My toddler even walked a lot of the way.

Well marked trail. Little over crowded at times. Vista is nice but it was overcrowded because you can drive to it

fun, scenic & challenging. very crowded but it's a holiday. access to the trail was closed for repairs, but found a work around. cool to visit the old mill & covered bridge.

The multiuse trail itself is a great way to see the park...but it is heavily used by EVERYONE (dog walkers, kids on bikes, rollerbladers...) If you are new to the park have at it but the interior trails and beach walks are where the real enjoyment and peacefulness are at.

Short hike and beautiful overlook of the lake.

Well marked and fairly wide. The view is worth the struggle for this old out of shape chic.
