Alexandria, Pennsylvania Map

Day hiked Pine Grove-Little Juniata. Rained all morning, rugged and rocky.

Did with snow about 20 degrees with wind. Camped over night, flask kept us warm

Flat and beautiful scenery as you walk/bike ride along the river. you'll usually pass others on the trail but it's not crowded.

Stumbled onto this place after getting directions and a great beer and burger at the bar along the river in Alexandria. Only went 4 miles from the parking lot up river to the big bridge over the river and 4 miles back. It was warm and muggy so took advantage of the river and went in for a dip. Don't worry about a swim suit as it's a very quite ride up that far and the bridge is high over the river.
Got back to the car in the lot just as it was getting dark. The bugs were becoming annoying as the sun went down.
Beautifully groomed and smooth. Perfect for a leisurely ride along the river on a lazy day. Starting at Alexandria and heading up river makes for a nice "downhill" ride on the way back, although the whole trail is only a slight grade as it follows the river. I want to make the whole trip someday.

That trails is so easy that if you wanna do mountain biking this place is the one to start with. It's easy, flat on ups or downs, and in a wonderful scenic area. It's about 13 miles long but never worry about doing it. It's so easy that you can do in your first or second visit. It has many rest places and it passes by houses, playgrounds , and a gas station.

Bring the whole family on this one! Easy and level ground, many places to stop and observe nature, picnic, fish, swim. All types of trail users can be found throughout the trail. Hikers, backpackers, bikers, runners, and horse riders. You will be walking along the river and see a multitude of conoes, kayaks, and inner tubes enjoying the Frankstown Branch of the Juniata River. Don'tbe afraid to bring the little ones. You will see many people with strollers or kidson the shoulder's. If hte kids wan to walk they can handle the terrain as well as anyone else. The foundation is constantly improving the trail system with pavillions, restrooms and excellent maintenance with the help and cooperation of PA Department of Natural Resources. You won't be disappointed.

This is the first rail trail I've ever biked... The trail is very smooth and even paved for a few miles. Very peaceful and scenic I try to go at least twice a month when the weather is nice.
