Did the trail anti-clockwise so the climb to the ridge is much more gradual. This entire hike is through mostly old growth forest. Beautiful forest but no views at all. If you do the trail anti-clockwise, keep in mind that there are no benches or other options to sit down for a break until you get to the last section of the trail that is an interpretive loop.

Short steep hike through the forest with amazing views along the way and on top! Hehe, feels so much more rewarding walking up when you see the folks that came by car

There were barely any views of the coast. Beautiful trees and wildflowers. Too close to the 101.

Great photo ops on this hike.

This trail along with Whispering trail is a nice way to enjoy Cape Perpetua. Did not do the more difficult hike from the bottom at the visitor center to the top of the cape but Amanda Trail was still fun though I only did the first 2 miles from the top and then turned around and went back. This is a nice area with good views and nice trails. It is worth visiting once in your life though I like Cascade Head and it's views better. Will come back later this summer and try the ascent hike to the top and the other inner land trails.

Did this loop today counter clockwise. Beautiful day high mid 60’s and clear. Wonderful trail through ferns and old growth Sitka Spruce. Not too steep and well maintained trail. Not sure why its rated hard except maybe the length. We had just over 7 miles total. We saw two other people , both within 1 mile of Visitor Center

Great trail. Started in Yachats and headed up. Ended at the visitors center. A must run!

Great hike and beautiful views.

Super easy hike but well worth the view!

Best to go at lower tide! Maybe just the season, but there was no one there and we got an awesome show. Short hike, a little confusing but just head down at either point by the bridge (there are two parking lots along the hwy). Gotta get out over the rocks but be careful with the tide, some waves come in big.

Love this! Super easy and nice for all ages. Very pretty views!

Short and simple. Amazing view on sunny days.

Really pretty hike. Only thing is that I assumed itd be more flat since its so straight but it goes up and down quiet a bit. It doesn't make it difficult but some may find that useful knowing.

I enjoy this going down the hill. Up hill can be kinda rough with how steep it is. Check the weather before going as mud can make it harder. I feel this trail is more uneven from rocks and roots on the ground. I dont find it an issue but some may.

this is a nice climb and short - combine it with the Amanda trail for a longer stretch and more elevation. I did that to condition for Yosemite.

Beautiful, moderately traveled trail with many switchbacks up the side of a hill. Spectacular views of the ocean and lots of wildflowers in the Spring. At the top is a parking lot with bathrooms and a shelter overlooking the ocean. Amanda Trail ends up at the same parking lot from the other direction.

Awesome hike! Totally worth it!

Gorgeous look out. Not very muddy in the winter, pretty steep but not too long and a good workout. Beautiful old growth trees.

Short little hike, more of a short walk, views from the cape out into the ocean prior to heading into forest with tons of trees.

Great trail with a view.

I started at Neptune State Scenic Viewpoint. I found the forest around Gwynn Creek trail to be the best section.

the views! worth the trip.

I start this loop from Hwy 101 at Neptune, which is a wonderful beach with sandstone cliffs and eroded basalt. . Terrific Sitka Spruce old growth forest flanks the hills along Gwynn creek. A brief switchback climbs to Cooks Ridge trail which eventually descends to Cape Perpetua Visitor center. Bald Eagles nest atop Cooks ridge, Kingfishers along Gwynn Creek. I have seen Chanterelles along this trail as early as mid July

Easy lush walk that ends at a gorgeous 550 year old spruce.

Great hike! The Trail has Switch backs on the way up and maintained well. Wasn't crowded for a Sunday afternoon. We went on a clear day which allowed us to see down the coast and catch some whale watching at the top. The view makes the hike extremely worth it! Not too challenging as an experienced hiker.

Great view, really easy hike!

We went the other way. Coast trail to Gwynn Creek to Cook's Ridge and Discovery loop back the three visitor center. This is a much more gradual 3.5 mile hike up to the highest point. It's a great trail and we only encountered 6-8 other groups on our Monday afternoon hike.
