Beautiful hike! Still a bit of snow but can be easily diverged, one of the best views I’ve seen in Oregon.

Very nice old growth trail! Definitely what I think of when I think Pacific Northwest. However as an out of stater that just wanted to go for a walk, the Oregon State Park parking system is confusing. You drive all the way to the trailhead to find out it’s a pay area but no way to pay and little or no cell service. And I couldn’t find a day parking box or anything. I’d gladly pay to help support the parks but you are supposed to squire a Pass before arriving... Oregonians may already know this but the rest of us don’t.

Wonderful hike through an old growth forest. Bio-diversity was astounding. Adjacent to the Salmon.River so took lots of pictures

We went out on an overcast am, it hailed, rained, then the sun came out. We were a mile shy of the end and had deep snow so we turned back. Our short dog needed to stop! Beautiful trail but not that hard.

Great overnight journey. We did this loop counter clockwise. Didn’t find a good access point for Kinzel Lake. Trail from Kinzel Lake to Green Canyon trail was mostly still snow covered. Excited to do this again later in the season. Hunchback trail could use some maintenance; blow downs.

fyi ... microspikes needed from about 4200 to 4400ft due to ice on the switchbacks. then foot deep snow following the ridge the rest of the way to the summit. doable without snowshoes.

Easy, beginner hike but you’ve got to start somewhere.

Beautiful, difficult hike. You’re climbing the whole time, but the view up top is pretty beautiful. We got to watch snow fall onto the mountains below, which was pretty spectacular. We’ll definitely be coming back!

This was a fantastic hike with our kids!!!! The river is gorgeous and the forest is so peaceful.

Great trail. We only went up to the first lookout point on the ridge looking down to the river. We’re looking forward to doing it again and going through the entire loop. VERY heavy traffic with lots of people and dogs, so don’t expect to be on your own. Overall very fun.

Pretty trail. A lot of people. A lot of unleashed dogs. Be prepared to do some ankle deep wading.

Gorgeous mossy trees with an easy trail along the river.

Gorgeous old growth trees dripping with green moss and the river is so green! Amazing beauty. I give 5 stars to the first couple miles that is closer to Welches. The section that is past Green Canyon trail doesn’t have as much old growth but does have picnic tables scattered near the campground. It’s also super confusing that 2 trails have such similar names! Old Salmon River trail is #724 and the Salmon River trail is #724A. At one point they are literally right across the road from each other. Confusing when you are trying to rendezvous with someone.

Great easy hike! Beautiful this time of year.

Flat and easy, but feels really remote. Salmon River was raging today! 12/30/17. A few parts had some small flooding, but it’s passable if you don’t mind getting wet. Old growth forest with an ethereal feel; lots of moss. Only a few other hikers/runners out there today.

Nice trail. Plenty of switchbacks to ease the gain. Decent views in top.

Excellent easy walk but can feel long for kids and those not used to hiking. The trail is very pretty and you can catch sightings of huge fish if you hop over to the Salmon River Trail for about .5 miles.

Nice hike. The view along the river was beautiful. Lot's of shade which is great for a hot day. Unfortunately someone knocked the porta potty down into the beginning part of the trail so you either have to step around it or enter on the right side of the parking lot as opposed to the left. You should definitely go before you go since there is no bathroom.

One of our favorite places in the area. Easy walk with great nature views. Perfect place to walk the dogs or hang out by the river. $5.00 parking fee but if you live in the area only $25.00 for the year. So worth the annual pass.

too close to the road.

So beautiful! There are some steep areas but for the most part it's just leisurely walking. The forest is so lush, green and pretty. The trail mainly follows the river which sounds so relaxing and there are some beautiful spots to stop and take pictures of the river.
