Make sure you have an off road vehicle and survival gear - and bear spray.

A really lovely secluded trail. The camp sites at the bottom of the trail are all creekside and very pretty, with plenty of good trees to string a hammock from. There's not too much to do when you get down there (as there aren't any other trails to explore), but bring along a hammock and a good book and you're all set.

Brushy trail down to a beautiful creek full of crawdads. There are ten or so little campsites scattered throughout the forest along the creek. It's a little bit of a climb back out but worth it.

All downhill going in and uphill going back. Relatively easy hike. Nice old trees along the way and ends at a nice stream that is a great camping area. Check out the crayfish in the stream. There are not that many, so protect the few that are there for others to see.

If I can't get out of town but don't want to walk around houses this is my solution but it's not great with the transient population or whoever leaves garbage and gross crap back there. I have seen an owl up close and found some good mushrooms.

This is a great trail if you want an easy to find and easy to maneuver hike. The trailhead is in Waldport, next to an athletic field. You walk on and by an underground sewer line the city put in to service area neighborhoods.

Great woodland views as you cross babbling brooks. Some steeper parts of the trail but nothing too difficult. They've done a good job putting in culverts but there are still wet spots.

Also lots of little side trails too.

Nice walk in the woods, but nothing spectacular. Nearby construction with hammering and yelling overwhelmed the sound of the songbirds. Won't walk this one again.

The hike was just okay, but the trails were not well marked and it was hard to tell which way to go.

this is a wonderful 1 hour hiking trail right in the middle of Waldport. We thoroughly enjoyed it. It is well maintained and offers a bit of climbing but nothing too strenuous. The woods are lovely and varied; there are benches to enjoy the scenery and restrooms as well. A real gem!

Waldport's exceptional Woodland Trail meanders through an old growth forest, surrounded by the village. It connects the old downtown area with the newer hilltop residential area along Crestline Drive.
The trail is broad and well drained, and soft underfoot, snce the entire surface is covered with hardwood chips. The upper sections of the trail, accessible from any of five trailheadss, is enhanced in the spring by wild rhododendrn blooms. The lower section of trail winds through old-growth forest beside the Red River, passing many huge nurse stumps, and lined with ferns, skunk cabbage, and evergreen huckleberry. To access the trail from downtown, park at the west end of the ball fields near the Post Office, and follow the signs. Enjoy!
