Hiking

Even though there were lots of cars, it was easy to find somewhere isolated. The main "road" on the east side of the peninsula is busier. I love how many trails cut through to the ocean side, if you take the west trail versus the road, you can walk along the beach as far as you want and then find a trail to cut through and loop back to the parking lot. Very beautiful scenery too, it was an amazing sunset and night hike.

Nice easy trail. The falls were very pretty and it was a good quick stop. My GPS took me up Rutherford road and DON'T GO THIS WAY - incredibly steep gravel road at the start and muddy too. Coming from Beaver Dam road is much better. Be cautious of bikers and potholes on the road up too.

Very nice and tall waterfall. Not much of a hike, but it was a pleasant stroll through the forest. The road had a lot of potholes, but was short - my FWD hatchback was fine with some careful maneuvering. Good to check out if you're in the Tillamook area.

Such a gem. Did the whole loop, not crowded at all. I went on a sunny day and the views were lovely. Miles of beautiful sandy beaches totally to myself.

HikingGreat!

This is a long walk but flat throughout. We started on the East side of the peninsula along the bay, and it's super beautiful and peaceful. We passed others along the trail but there's so much open space that we felt pretty secluded. There are lots of small trails that cut through the brush from the East side to the beach so you can cut the loop shorter going either direction if desired. We walked along the beach the on the entire West side, not sure if that is the official "trail". Either way, I recommend this for a lovely, flat walk with interesting scenery! I also happened to see a group of Elk running down the beach here...amazing!

Trail is short but worth the trip down a bumpy one way road to see this amazing waterfall.

Very muddy right now with a lot of downed trees. I turned around after coming across a particularity treacherous looking downed tree, obviously some people have been crawling around or over it but it seemed unsafe to attempt going over it, and I didn’t want to get covered in mud crawling under it. I ended up walking further down the closed road from the parking area and found a trail that lead to a beautiful overlook.

Bumpy one lane coming in- go slow. Short, easy hike with big payoff. Trail is closed as you get closer to the falls but still have great views of the falls.

Only pass a few other hikers each time I’m on this trail. Not the quietest as it follows the highway and not much view or sound of the river. Currently, there are quite a few trees down across the trail and some areas are very overgrown. ***DO NOT try to find the last section of trail along this highlighted route! Take the trail that is still visible (lined with blue dash marks on the AllTrails map) and the two will join back up right before the very end. My friend and I made the mistake of trying to find the last section of trail on this route. It was not fun crawling through thorny brambles to join back up with the clear path.
