Took my wife and five kids (3-11) down and back. Trail was in very good shape most of the way. Only had to scramble over a few downed trees and only a couple moderately wet spots but is been dry for the last few weeks. Only issue we had was the last scramble down to the beach. We had to bush whack it 50 yards to the north from where the train came out to actually make it down to the beach. Very rocky as others have stated but fairly private with great views. Just a heads up the road to the trailhead was closed coming in from the north and we had to backtrack and come in from the Netarts side.

Beautiful views! We got lucky and saw a whale. The only downside was the crowds hanging out beyond the ropes at the lookout and the muddiness. My dog definitely needed a bath after that one.

The views are amazing, better than the Kings Mountain summit in my opinion. Some scrambles, some hairy descents, and some cliffside trails make this one of the more difficult hikes I’ve done in Tillamook. Probably best to leave the kids at home, bring a lot of water and a snack. Most importantly pay attention to the weather, this isn’t a trail you want to have to maneuver in a rain or snow storm.

awesome views. it was a bit muddy in places, but not horrible. not good for those with difficulty in uneven trails - lots of roots, etc.

Wonderful day hike with beautiful views. Recommend starting on east side of the trail and ending the hike on the beach side.

Probably the best hike I've been on in a long while. I'm out of shape and this is the perfect hike to take to begin conditioning. I also saw a 3 year old girl on this hike, so that should tell you it isn't hard at all. It's a very fun trail. Goes all over the cape, and the views are truly stunning. My buddy and I went on May 5th, and there was still a lot of mud. The two biggest obstacles on this trail is all the mud, and all the roots. There are a LOT of roots popping up out of this trail. Gotta be careful especially when hiking next to the cliff. (Don't be stupid next to the cliffs, you'll die). All in all; super fun trail, one of my new favs in Oregon.

The most hardest hike I have done well worth it make sure U bring a lot of water

Wow! The scenery is amazing every step of the way. This is a must-do.

We went here back in November. It was a stunning sunny day. The hike is fun and easy and has great views onto the ocean.

Absolutely amazing views up and down the coast. Saw a whale and a sea lion at the end! Pretty muddy about halfway through. Moderate traffic on the weekends, go early.

its a wonderful place and the hike is a good way to get into hiking. only reason why we don't give it a 5 is because the trail to the bottom of trail up to the water fall is close. but that's it

Well worth the short walk. What an amazing tree!

this hike was beautiful.
went on a monday and it was completely silent around us. its a great trail, does cross over atv trails but that is no biggie. the dogs loved this trail also.

I thought people might have been over exaggerating the level of mud on this trail especially when I started out. The first half of this trail is well maintained and not muddy at all until you hit the first view point with railing. From then on is sinking mud puddles and lots of roots to navigate. I wouldn’t call it hard but it’ll definitely slow you down since you’re constantly checking your footing. I would save this one for summer when it’s dried out. But the views are worth the trouble if you can’t wait! Also I didn’t notice it on the way out to the cape but you’re going gradually down hill the whole time so the hike back out is mostly uphill. Extremely gradual uphill but constant nonetheless.

I imagine this hike is easier when it is dry. The views were breathtaking. Wish there were more markers to indicate how far along I was on the trail. My trekking poles really saved my hide on this trail. Calling this trail "easy" is a bit of an oversell.

Super short and great for kids!

Nice walk. Not much of a workout. good for the little guys. Dogs welcomed.

We had a great time on this hillside hike. You get to listen to the waves as you make your way down to a rocky beach. It will be really slick and muddy if it’s raining for you, but after a day with no rain, it was a fun challenge with only a few muddy spots. As others say, there’s a few spots with fallen trees and a few spots requiring a scramble.

It was a beautiful, sunny day on the Oregon Coast when we did this hike. Gorgeous views of the ocean and you get to hike in a forested region. The trail can be muddy so watch out for that.

We hit this on the way back from the Cape Lookout hike. It is super short, more of a stroll than a hike. The trail is in great shape and people of all abilities can walk it safely. The falls at the end were actually way more impressive than I was expecting. The info says that it is the tallest waterfall in the Cascades and I'd believe it. The trail is closed a bit before the falls, it looks like logs are blocking the path, but you have a pretty full view of the whole falls.

If you want to get up to this area you have to take the highway through Netarts and Oceanside. It is closed coming from the northern portion of the loop. As others have noted, this really is more of a stroll, but this tree is really cool. Took our 7 year old and even he was impressed with this tree. You can add in a short walk down to the lighthouse which we did and the whales were very active which was fun to see.

We hiked this day before yesterday. The weather was perfect for it. I had never heard of this place before and it really was a great combination of scenery for one hike. We started on the ocean and walked all the way up to the jetty. Google maps makes it look like there is a road that goes out onto the jetty which we had planned on walking out on, but there isn't a road there and we didn't feel like navigating the rocks. Then we continued back walking alongside the bay. The road is very rocky which isn't as pleasant on the feet after the nice beach walk but the view was really nice. If we do it again, I think I would go in the reverse order and start off along the bay and finish with the beach portion. We had our 7 year old with us and he did great, not getting very tired until the last mile or so.

Extremely muddy right now. My wife brought walking sticks which were extremely helpful for her and our son to navigate the best path in the muddy areas. We saw several people with mud on their backs from taking a fall. Views are beautiful. The whales were migrating and there were volunteers at the end point to let people know where to look. The trillium were in full bloom which was awesome, although their numbers were greatly reduced by hikers who thought it would be fun to pick them, despite the signs at the trailhead telling people not to.

just the right challenge for me and easy for my kids. we were prepared for the mud, and it was a beautiful day.

The road to get to this hike is closed, just want to save everyone the time. Not sure when it will be re-opened.

It was a nice trail. I like the variety of the up and down. Not to many markings as to where you are or where you are going, but if you follow the trail you will be fine. A few waterfalls along the way as well.

The hike was decent through forests and clear cuts. Views were nice at the top and the falls we're great. Groups of ATV riders were considerate. The reason for the 3 star rating was due to the constant gunfire noise throughout the entire hike.

Beautiful! Muddy, so bring three right shoes. No complaints from me on a sunny day!
