Cloudy day. The hike is intense for only being 2.5 miles up the mountain. Poles helped. You'll need some footwear with grip.

Trail in good shape!

Fabulous trail with great infrastructure. Bridges and creeks and well marked at every junction. I loved some of the vistas in planted clear cut area.

I hiked this over Veteran’s Day. STEEP! Like, really steep. It’s a good workout in a really pretty setting. I’m sure the summit has great views if you are lucky enough to time it right. I had cool views of the tops of the clouds. My dog loved this hike, especially running back down!

Nice easy trail. The falls were very pretty and it was a good quick stop. My GPS took me up Rutherford road and DON'T GO THIS WAY - incredibly steep gravel road at the start and muddy too. Coming from Beaver Dam road is much better. Be cautious of bikers and potholes on the road up too.

Very nice and tall waterfall. Not much of a hike, but it was a pleasant stroll through the forest. The road had a lot of potholes, but was short - my FWD hatchback was fine with some careful maneuvering. Good to check out if you're in the Tillamook area.

I loved the adventure of this hike and would definitely put it in the hard category. I’ve been wanting to do this hike for some time now, but my boyfriend was not into hiking. Now that I’ve done this hike as a newly minted single person, if we had done it together it would’ve brought an end to our relationship for sure. Choose your hiking partner wisely or go solo.

Went clockwise and definitely felt the long slog going up. Not sure if I’d have felt any better going up the other way which was shorter but much steeper. Really pretty when we weren’t socked in. Felt pretty cold at times at the summits. Loved using the rope to climb up but it made me nervous for anyone with a dog.

Such a gem. Did the whole loop, not crowded at all. I went on a sunny day and the views were lovely. Miles of beautiful sandy beaches totally to myself.

Definitely a leg burner. Plenty of people on the trail but it didn’t feel crowded. It was tricky coming down with a pup on a 7 foot leash. I ended up letting him run ahead a few times so I wouldn’t get pulled down.

There was a concrete barricade blocking the entrance to the parking lot when I stopped by on 11/01/2020. The state park website says that the "trails are closed due to wind damage and downed trees. No access."

Did this hike Sat. 10/31, arrived just before 9am. The parking lot was already full which was discouraging. There is plenty of overflow parking though, and I was easily able to park down a bit. What I didn’t know is that there are 3 trail options from this TH, so if there aren’t a ton of cars in the overflow spots, you’re probably not going to run into a lot of people. I saw/passed only 3 couples on my way up. This one is demanding like most reviews say. I definitely underestimated the toll it took on my body coming down. I highly recommend poles or a hiking stick. My legs were jello and there are plenty of slippery spots. I fell 3 times coming down, all on my butt and all super hard. I’ve got lots of scrapes and bruises as souvenirs. The views up top are incredible though so, it was worth it. I probably won’t do it again though. Ha!

Trail is short but worth the trip down a bumpy one way road to see this amazing waterfall.

parking lot is shared with ATVs and dirt bikes parkings. Trail crosses tons of ATV trails. Can hear gun range during most part of the trail. Not a peaceful hike at all.
