Dillon Falls is just a short walk to the north of the parking area and is powerfully amazing! Benham Falls trailhead is Southwest of the parking area and there is no sign, although we had no trouble finding the trail (on the left). We hiked in August and began at 8:30am. We only passed by a few bikers and one couple hiking. We had the trail to ourselves! The trail had a little more traffic by the time we ended our hike at 11:00am. We ran into a small section of the trail that met us with mosquitoes. A couple bites each! Easy hike with our 3yr old labradoodle. Beautiful scenery and the river kept changing, so never a dull moment. I’d recommend this gorgeous hike and I’d recommend doing it early while it’s cool and sparse of people. Oh, and one more helpful hint...there is a pit toilet near parking area and another pit toilet on the way to Benham Falls!

Hiked up on the evening of July 3 to stay through the holiday and only a handful of campsites were occupied. Mosquitoes were pretty bad - we were thankful for our head nets.

Incredible views, plenty of water the whole way. Trail is a superhighway and very well maintained.

We got to the trailhead at 6pm and there was plenty of parking - just us and a few trailrunners taking advantage of the long days to go up & back before dark. Hiking out on Friday morning we easily passed 100 people coming in; this is one of the busiest trails I've been on in Oregon. Definitely one for weekdays & evenings if possible.

Long but rewarding hike. Lots of little water falls on the way. Great views of South Sister and Broken Top.

My brother, a niece, a nephew and two girl friends and I set out to do this trail on Aug 9-13th. We stayed that long but didn’t finish the loop. We started at Lava Camp lake trailhead. We started way too late in the day and by brother became overheated to the point of stopping. South Matthieu lake was our stop. We decided to set out to finish the first days 3 miles as well as the second days 10. Needless to say we only made it to Soap Creek. By then I was suffering with many blisters. Instead of continuing on we set up camp and headed back the next morning . *side-note, we should have just continued because the way back was way harder. So we made it back to Matthieu lake for the night and chose the next day to go the other way, PCT. we made it to Minnie SCOTT spring where it was beautiful, butterflies everywhere. We set up camp and set out to see Opie Dilldock Pass and was not disappointed. We hiked out the last day to our finish. I will say everything from Matthieu lake south to past soap creak was nothing but a burn scar and only water at alder creek. When it is hit there is absolutely no sun protection. Lava lake camp trail is also a burn scar. I will do this hike again and finish it. I will start at pole creek or obsidian. I want to see the south end.

Nice easy trail, good views of sparks lake and interesting rock formations

great trail! worth the hike is suggest wearing hiking boots or sneakers. I wore chacos and my feet were fine just SUPER dirty at the end.
carry lots of water with you!
if you go on a warm /hot day wear swim gear so you go in the lake.

Road is open and some snow on parts of trail. Extremely muddy in the meadow. Wildflowers are just starting to bloom.

amazing but if you want solitude don'g go between Friday-Sunday.

Hiked this with our 3 kids (ages 6, 11 and 13) and had a great time. Views of South Sister, Broken Top and Middle Sister at the top were spectacular! Highly recommend for a family hike!

Yeah it’s an easy walk around and it can be crowded but, come on, it’s beautiful and you can swim. But if you want to add some spice bushwhack up the ridge at the far end of the lake. It a hard climb but worth it. At the top turn left and go just about as far as you can. You will be rewarded by the most breathtaking views of Broken Top and S Sister ever. Then a quick trip down (you can’t miss the lake) and you earned your swim. The hike up and down is steep so you flip flops are not going to cut it. Be prepared.

Excellent hike! Great views of the Cascades! Forest at the beginning, open ski run for part of the middle, eventually getting to some volcanic rock towards the top.

totally awesome. totally kicked my butt. super windy and cold at the top if you go before noon so bring a layer. loved it!!! has everything--forest, desert, and fun rock scramble. took me 2.5 hours.

Pretty walk under trees and along the river (try your luck with poles and rodes with artificial lures). *There is another parking lot closer to the falls.

Falls are more what I consider class 4 - 5 rapids. I was a bit disappointed. It was also hard to find a good place to take pictures.

The distance is off on this app. This trail(paved) from the parking spot on East Cascade was 1.5 miles to the walking bridge. we locked up our cruisers there and walked(dirt) another .5 mile to the falls. we could have stayed on our bikes, but it was nice to give our bums a rest. The falls were not a typical fairytale waterfalls. they were more like a gushing angry whitewater. Impressive in their own way. A nice outing from Sunriver.

Quick trail, spectacular views.

Bring the whole fam for this one! Mee-Maw and Pop-Pops? They can nail this utterly flat 1.7mi. LIttle cousin Timmy? He won't even need coddling or an extra juicebox to complete this tourist-laden lakeside loop. And fat Aunt Sharon? She'll recall days of yore when it was just "Shari" as she mobs around this short loop like the spritely cross-country runner she was back in college.

It's flat, dead-easy, and on weekends the parking lot is a circuis. Is Multnomah Falls your jam? Cool. Then so is the Tood Lake Loop Trail.

But maybe when at Multnomah Falls you're all "eff this." Maybe you tend more towards the 16mi Larch Mountain trail up and out of M. Falls? If so, then check out the 15-17 mellow miles of the Todd Lake/Soda Creek/Brokentop Trail that ends above the ridge at No Name Lake. It starts here and, well, "it good."

But if you're into kids, tourists, dogs, and "RV people," well, then the Todd Lake Loop Trail may be your Valhalla.

Took the single track out and back to benham. Great for a 12 yr old first time single track rider and adults looking for a easy dirt trail.

Lovely hike!

Really enjoyed this hike.

Hard route out, moderate on the way back. Worth the invest in sweat and shoes filled with rock for the view and the crystal clear lake. Next time, we’ll plan and pack better to do the summit trail.

Starts off pretty moderate but gets tougher once you're past the top of Sunrise. It's also all exposed after then, so pack some sunscreen. There are some loose rocks and soft dirt towards the top, but it's all manageable. The views are stunning and totally worth it!

A straight up stellar hike. Worth the climb for the view.

Easy and beautiful hike around the lake. Bring layers - when the wind picks up it can be chilly in the shade even on a day that is hot at lower altitude. Given that, it is a great place to go to get a break from the heat.

Short hike for spectacular views! Worth staying for sunset but it gets windy and cold up top!

Well groomed trail, made for easy going. Fantastic views of the Sisters and Broken Top and in late July there were still wildflowers and butterflies to enjoy.

Gorgeous hike. Had a nice snack at the lake once we got there. I'd suggest going early. We go up there at 7am and it wasn't too crowded. Started heading down again after 9am & passed a lot of people coming up, parking lot was packed when we got down & lots of cars parked on the road leading in.

Great hike. Our 20 month old was able to walk around. The views are awesome and the lake is worth going.

Great hike with great views, and a nice break from summer temps up top.
