Completed as a quick overnight. Arrived late afternoon on the Saturday and was quite surprised that we were able to get a parking spot. Most people were day hikers and were leaving as we were headed up. The mosquitoes were out in full force, but our bug spray kept most away. Pretty views of the sunset glow on Broken Top and sunrise glow on South Sister.

Tumalo Mountain is a popular hike in Central Oregon with fantastic views from the top!

It was awesome, minus the mosquitos! We forgot bug repellent so that is on us. We plan to do this one again soon.

Great family hike. The third lake is definitely the best! Beautiful view almost the entire hike.

I'm 15 and come from SC, so I'm not very skilled in hiking. But this trail was fantastic and had it's tough moments, but the views were worth it!!

It was a great hike! Did it with a 20 lb pack and it wasn’t too bad (I’m new to hiking) The trail is maintained very well and the lake is beautiful from every angle. Plan to do again and hammock out over night!

it was stunning..start early the parking lot is packed

Great hike with Golden Retrievers (on leash) in July. Start early - this is a popular trail. You’ll need mosquito repellant!

Bring $5 for a pass in the parking area, and don’t forget to get a free backcountry permit at the trailhead.

This was a beautiful easy trail. The water is crystal clear. They're beautiful flowers along the way. You walk along the river for a lot of it. There is a bridge 2/3rds in. Pack a lunch and just enjoy the day. This hike turned out to be a four hour, 7.34 mile hike for us.

Go back to California, the hikes there are way better.

Relatively easy trail with a fantastic view at top!

One of my favorites in the area, and today was no different. Just small patches of snow left here and there. Mosquitoes were in full force - I forgot the bug spray and got destroyed.

One of my favorite hikes of Central Oregon, this is my 7th time hiking it! pretty easy hike. Starts along the creek by some beautiful waterfalls and makes it's way to the base of south sister. Makes good trail running if your up for it. very pretty!

The approach isn't that interesting - a walk along the river with only occasional views, but the basin around Green Lake is lovely. In mid-June there were still a few snow patches but easily negotiable.

Beautiful hike. There before the bugs hatch. Had to turn around at the river. Running too fast and it was 36 degrees out. Plan on bringing some kind of shoe for fording across. One of my favorite hikes. Snow free to the river.

This was an amazing hike from start to finish! The majority of the time you are next to the river and in a pine forest that provides some nice shade. The last third or so is opposite the old lava/obsidian flow, which provides for some other worldly sights as well. The finale at the lakes is just spectacular and well worth the effort to get there. It really is a hike with something for everyone. At this time of year (June 7) the trail was still about 50-60% snow-covered, but the path in the snow was well worn and easy enough to follow. The lakes are partially frozen still, but that just adds to the beauty. I can see why this trail is so popular but ended up seeing only about 10 other hikers on the path.

Beautiful trail; runs through a small patch of lava flow near the beginning, then hits the creek. You have to ford the creek before climbing up to some gorgeous views!

I did the hike over Memorial Day weekend and the trail was still 90% covered in snow. I would definitely recommend waterproof shoes/yak tracks/snow shoes. The lakes were still frozen over but still beautiful as ever. The two lakes sit in between broken top and south sister. Give yourself more time than you think. The snow makes it difficult to follow the trail.

5/20/18: Amazing hike with great views. Still a lot of snow (~4-5 foot drifts). Might need to wait a little later in the season to get easier access to the trails.

Excellent hike with stunning views on a clear day! Tough incline heading up, but well worth the views. Snowshoed in mid- March

Great views and a really nice trail, hard hike but a good challenge

Snowshoed on a clear day in January. Followed previous tracks up, and blazed our own trail coming back down. Quite steep at the final ascent, but manageable. View from the top was breathtaking.

By following the existing trail forged by those before me, I went straight up - round trip with some wandering around at the summit left my GPS showing only 2.98 miles. Snow was an icy pack the whole way up. Summit would be fantastic... On a day without a complete whiteout. Still worth the trip, great length and strenuous for a weekend day hike between breakfast and a late lunch. I look forward to going up in the spring.

Beautiful hike for snowshoes. Trail is covered so you’re at the mercy of the previous snowshoer who picked a pretty spicy grade up to the top.

Had the trail to myself except for a few fishermen. Trail got a little soft and muddy in places as the day went on so go early when it's still frozen.

Awesome in January!

My favorite time of year to hike the Green Lakes trail is in the late summer to see the wildflowers. I've also been in the late fall (snowfall permitting) though and it was just as beautiful!

Was extremely cloudy and snowy when we were on top. Some pictures going up looked beautiful. Trail signs in winter we’re not very visible and took a completely non trail path up. Very hard and steep in snowshoes. Over all weather held this one back.
