Great hike! Amazing views from halfway to the top. Lots of doggos, so keep them on a leash, but other than that really not too busy for the first saturday in November!

Went this last weekend. Nice family hike. Recorded 4.5 miles round trip. Some ice on the trail but no snow and very cool iced up trees landscape at the top. Super cold and windy at the top as well. Heavy traffic.

Great hike! The trail is iced over in quite a few places. You might want to use cleats or hiking poles to keep from going for a slide.

Nice steady graded hike, best to use spikes due to snow and ice making walk down unsafe. Moraine Lake is spectacular, views super, and the solitude healing.

Quiet and peaceful. Great during the summer, not to crowded, the water isn’t too cold.

As spectacular as everyone says. Passed no more than 15 or so people in both directions with long stretches of solitude including at the lake itself. Conditions: Cascade Lakes Highway clear (from Bend) except for one snowy/icy hill just west of Mount Bachelor. Trail clear for first mile or so, packed snow for the next two (not slippery), some icy hills in the final stretch -- enough that I put on traction for the trip down. Tentative road closure date is 11/19 so enjoy this trail now!

Finished this hike on 6Nov18. An inch of snow where I parked my car (the closed gate near sunrise lodge) and anywhere from 6inches to 2 feet on the route to the top depending on the drift. I did not where snow shoes but they would be needed once the snow starts to add. Recommend crampons. The trail I took to get to the top was guided by the lifts since there was no trail visible with the snow. I started at sunrise lift and followed it up until I got to the next lift which I hand railed to the top. My gps said I walked a total of 10.45 miles but who knows. The view was spectacular up top. Was a bit cloudy over the sisters but cleared in the afternoon. It was interesting to walk a ski route and I definitely felt it! Finished the hike in 4 hours and some change. Overall happy I did the hike.

So pretty, great hike.

Best hike I’ve ever been on. Went in August on a really hot Smokey day and it was cool. Walked next to a creek almost the entire way and took a dip in the lake at the top.

Absolutely beautiful trail. Didn’t make it all the way to the lake, but lovely by the creek all along the way. Gently sloping, not very technical.

Very well maintained trail with lots of picturesque scenery, including the river, waterfalls, forest, open space with obsidian boulders and of course - lakes and Mountain View’s. Went over Labor Day weekend, lots of other hikers but not crowded. The hike in was 2 hours. We took a 30 minute break to snack and take in the scenery then hiked out, which took 1.5 hours. Would recommend.

gets crowded, but great payoff

Hard for me to completely rate this trail fairly. Started out hiking at 11p so it was pitch black. Very cold that night and to make matters worse once we got to the lakes the wind decided to get crazy. If I was to guess sustained 15mph with gusts all night up to 40. Powerful enough to have branches fall on our tent. In the morning the lakes were pretty but again very very cold mostly due to the wind. We did a loop with soda creek trail back to the trail head and decided to forgo no name lake that night given how windy it was the previous night at a lower elevation. The lakes were definitely pretty and so was the western side of broken top and the eastern end of sisters. Great overall trail system in this region no doubt.

Challenging and rewarding hike! Coming through the thick forest to the opening on the plateau and then down into the lake made this a hike amazing! I can’t wait to share with my family and friends!

We backpacked mid-September and experienced a mixture of weather. The views were amazing and there were many trails we explored once camp was set up. Grab a good water filter so you don’t have to weigh your bag down with lots of water. There are many places to refill with the filter. Trekking poles were helpful as there are a couple spots once at the lakes where you can cross water on logs but they are slippery so be careful. There are lots of easily located designated camp spots and a back trail to hike South Sister if you wanted. Will go again for sure!

Really gorgeous views of the river while heading to the falls, especially when combined with the colors of autumn.
It was an easy hike so poles aren't really needed.
I'd never seen a falls where it does a 90 degree turn - Loved it.

Beautiful scenery.

Spectacular views - creek, waterfalls, Broken Top, South Sister, lava, and lakes. Bring a camera and plenty of water. Fairly easy hike - moderate due to the distance.

Garmin InReach tracked this at 5.9 miles. This hike is a great workout, unfortunately it was cloudy and I didn't get to see what the views were like. Scree makes it fun, but I wouldn't recommend this trail for dogs.

I saw some hikers walking up the road at the beginning. Not sure if this was on purpose or they didn't see the trail. There is a trail, it goes to the right and into the woods. Don't take the road, that's lame and not as scenic.

We took the Pine Marten Lift to the PM Lodge, cut across Sunrise to Summit Trail and scrambled to the top. The spectacular views at the top were worth the hike which was definitely “arduous.” It was very rocky (essentially, the hike was entirely on lava rock), exposed, and occasionally quite steep. Trail was fairly easy to follow in spite of very little signage.

We hiked this a few weeks ago, and it was a great experience. It was hazy in the valley and views were limited at the summit, but it was still awesome. It was so fun to point out the runs that we normally see during the snowy season. We read somewhere that the trail is marked by orange flags, but we only saw 2-3 of them tied to the trees. The trail is very well maintained and easy to follow from the Sunrise lift. There were several other people on the trail. We pretty much followed the chairlifts up the entire way. Our group consisted of 4 women and 2 girls-age 7 and 9. The kids did great and stuck with it the entire time. Bring a good supply of water and sunscreen on a warm day. Will definitely do this again!

Great hike, worth the view on a clear day! I would not call it easy though! It’s a heart thumper going up and tough on the knees going down. Or course if you are under 40, it’s a piece of cake!

Wow!!! This is an incredible hike! Waterfalls, a creek, the lake and stunning views along the way. I didn’t use trekking poles but saw many who did. Moderate hike. I will definitely hike this trail again. Bring plenty of water.
