I don't remember seeing this suggested route before, so I figured I'd complete it too. Normally I go over the Steel, Hawthorne and Tilikum bridges. Can't remember the last time I considered the Burnside route. It's not nearly as direct, as you have to meander under the bridge away from the waterfront to find the stairs. The other bridges are directly connected to the walking paths. The only other "concern" is that there are often gross substances and smells around the stairs up the bridge and "characters" hanging out around that area due to the presence of the Rescue Mission and other attractive services. I don't mind crossing paths with people from different "walks of life" at all, but if this concerns you (especially late at night), the Steel Bridge is a better crossing very nearby. If the Saturday Market is ever allowed to occur again, that would be in this area and make a great addition/distraction to your walk.

Quick and easy bike ride. Lots of great views of the Willamette River and city below. I saw a number of walkers and runners as well. Dog friendly.

Easy trail. Fun forest views. Very busy.

Excellent mid-length run. If you finish at Burnside you can close out with a nice stair run. Only bug was a minor slowdown due to bike congestion at the North crossing, but it’s a great vista and worth taking a breath on.

Nice paved trails. I enjoyed listening to all of the birds along the trail on my morning run.

not the same it was years ago. I miss the old portland.

I ran this trail in sunny weather on 4/28. It was a pleasant and refreshing run with a glimpse at a couple of marquee Portland landmarks. A portion of the trail south on the West bank North of the Tilikum crossing is on cobble-like surface, and I recommend taking care when either running on that surface or running on the sloped grass beside it. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this loop and intend to repeat it often. There are plenty of adjoining or extending trail routes if you're feeling up for added exploration!

Great trail for a bike ride. Wide trail with a combination of walkers and bicyclists. Beautiful view of the Columbia. A few mild inclines, bit relatively flat.

Dry and no blow down. Best condition

Nice ride along the river. Nice view of Hood. Pretty flat but couple inclines. I would recommend

Probably better for biking than hiking. Nice river views and Canadian Geese.

A wonderful Saturday walk. The paving, and the hilliness and length of the trail makes it an accessible challenge to anyone.

Great day for a walk. Not crowded. First day without rain in a while. Love this loop. One of my most regular walks. Included some wandering in town this time.

Boring walk. Pretty cold today with crazy winds. Lots of goose poop everywhere. Wouldn’t come back until summer.

It’s good for morning exercise but I felt in the way of bike commuters, homeless encampments, and not a fan of breathing exhaust. I did get a couple nice pics of the sunrise though. It would be better to seek out one of the park trails instead.

It’s a lot more hills than it seems. If you’re on a single speed bike, it’ll be punishing (like I was). Lots of foot traffic and several road crossings, but beautiful views and off the main roads.

Portland is beautiful. First time here

Easy hard surface trail along the Willamette River with two pedestrian bridge crossings. Busy river and trail with beautiful views of the water and downtown Portland. Negative was makeshift homeless shelters and occasional overflowing trash can along the path. Portland Saturday Market with local crafts was an added plus to our trail experience.

Jogged Friday early afternoon and trail traffic was verrry light. Saw two abandoned trash/tent camps along the trail.

Portland what a beautiful city!! We spent the majority of our trip driving to find amazing hikes and trails! Who would of though you could walk out the hotel door to an amazing sunrise/set along the waterfront! Great run and great weather!! Thank you!

Nice to see the city!

nice and easy, mostly pretty and homeless are not an issue right now. I just needed to remember the traffic noise is high as the main road runs parallel
