Cool really short hike to an awesome waterfall!

Great little hike. Really liked the cave! Not much of a waterfall but I was expecting that as it’s October. I’m sure it’s much bigger in the spring.

Hike was amazing - the old mine on the other hand.. FULL OF GIANT NASTY EVIL ALIEN SPIDERS BEWARE

Coming back from Opal Pools we stopped too early and accidentally started hiking up Henline Mountain until we figured the switchbacks couldn’t be right. If you’re on the right trail there’s a small little parking area and the trail is quite flat through the woods. It’s a fairly short walk and at this time of year there isn’t much water going over but it’s still worth a visit. The cave beside the falls only goes back 40-50’ but it’s an interesting side excursion...check the ceiling for bats and insects. I’d come back to Henline again for sure, especially when the water volume is greater!

Take the left side when you see the fork in the trail (it looks obviously more used). Saw no one the entire time. Very pretty, quick walk up to the falls through dappled light and fern groves. Nice pool at the base of falls for hot days. A creepy cave that I didn't go down thanks to lack of flashlight, but seemed to be barricaded at the end. Foundational bits of concrete are sticking out in the trail right before the falls, so arthritic knees and hips may not appreciate the little scramble up. Road is unpaved in two separate parts (before you get to Elkhorn and again once inside Opal Creek Scenic Area), but our Kia Soul was able to make it over the minimal potholes with ease.

We went off trail a few times, down to the river. Our phone said we put in 11-12 miles between the two (one phone said 11, the other said 12.2). Longer trail, lots of exposed roots and rocks. Decent switch backs starting about a mile in. I'm glad we did this trail but I would not do it again.

It’s a great hike for first timers and great for kids. The cave was cool and the waterfall was pretty.

Beautiful arch and views at the end of a very steep trail. Wasn't as hard getting back up the trail as I thought it would be, but it does get steeper as you get closer to the arch. Very enjoyable day!

Amazing hike!! Easy trail for beginners, with the option of a crazy steep trail for the more adventurous. Definitely will be going back here.

I loved this trail! I started at Opal Creek Campground which provides you with a couple easy miles before the incline starts. So much beauty! Like being in a fairy land! Lush forest and crystal clear green/blue waters. Plenty of side paths to go down to the river and swim. The incline is a great workout. Bringing a friend back here to do it again

Rocks, roots and river, Oh my!
Beautiful swimming spots. Few places packed with people but the trail on other side river.
Good training hike and carried full packs. 9 miles.
One couple reported seeing a small black bear. Few people stung by black bee. No mosquitoes.

Great late afternoon hike. Easy but beautiful. And the fall at the end of the trail was worth every minute it took to get there. LOVE the area.

Great, quick hike. Took my 2 pre-teens but would not recommend for kids younger than 10. Very steep so I would recommend poles or a hiking stick.

perfect! short, sweet and ending is fabulous. No litter and no people. Just don't drive too far. Trail is about 1/2 hour from main road. Big turn out. Very small metal sign at trail head.

Narrow trail, full of roots and rocks, steep in sections, but really lush & green and beautiful views of the river. Take a dip to cool off at Three Pools before you turn around to return to the TH.

GPS and signs made it easy to find the trail head. The arch was larger that we expected. The wild flowers were also amazing!

Not so kid-friendly at the end! The washouts weren't too bad, but the climb over the concrete structure was tricky- I kept my toddler in the carrier, suspended Superman-style over the cliff! Super easy until that point.

Amazing and easy trail!

I've done this hike before. very cool spot, trail head is marked by a small brown plastic stake at the curve in Rd. where google maps will take you right to. last i remembered had no trouble finding it, tried taking my parents up there on 6/16/18 and there was some downed logs laying across the Rd. blocking access

Such a great hike

Wow! This trail was a bit rough! Lots of rocks and roots to keep it interesting with some intense elevation gain. We started at the lower end hiked to Shady Cove camp ground and walked the road back.

This is not 7.9 miles out and back. The OR state website says 9 miles total, 4.5 miles from one end to the other. The inaccurate info on this app really threw us off to determine where we were and how much to go because I didn’t realize the map on the app showed incomplete hiking log starting from the Elkhorn side of the trailhead. We started from the Shady Cove cg side. I recommend starting from the Shady Cove side trailhead if you’d like to avoid steep parts that start around 2 miles or so in after a beautiful riverside trail that is easy and has accesses to the river including the Three Pools. The official info is https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/Little_North_Santiam_Hike

A good out and back if you’re looking for a nice little workout. Our small dog did fine on the trails. Much of the trail has a beautiful view of the river below, plenty of access points, and a couple good camping spots if you wanted to backpack in. The trail isn’t marked once you get on it, but it’s pretty easy to identify if you follow the most traveled looking trail.

Easy but beautiful fall at the end, great trail for young kids.

This was a beautiful and easy hiking trip with the littles. The 3 year old started to tire out on the way back but the trail was easy enough to carry him the rest of the way.

Super easy hike. And beautiful.

Surprisingly great hike! Lots of different scenery. Waterfall a mile or so in. Finished up at Three Pools. Trails are fun.

Great Hike! Went on Saturday! Was challenging at moments. Lots of up and downs. Not for your first hike of the season.

Amazing views and great hike! The water is the most incredible shade of bluish green I have seen. The hike is challenging at some parts, but it makes it fun and exciting. Definitely not a boring trail. We were probably the only people who camped there overnight, but there was some decent traffic during the days. Overall, I definitely recommend it!
