Clay D. on McDowell Creek Falls Trail
Short, but incredibly beautiful hike. Hiked it last summer and on April 15th this year. Nice to compare the two hikes and differences in flow rates.
One of my favorite hikes. Beautiful day! Very little mud, besides one or two small sections.
Only *caution* is there are two downed trees that are blocking portions of the trail. Usually it's a loop, but a tree is completely blocking off one route to Majestic Falls. This block forces you to use the alternate route crossing the road where you'll hit Crystal Pool first, then Majestic Falls. This alternate route also a large uprooted tree on this path, but you are able to shimmy down around. A little slippery, be careful!
Great area to explore. The trail is kind of non linear so you can hike the area slightly different at your choosing. Mild sets of stairs throughout. We visited at the end of winter and will definitely come back in the summer to get in the water at the Crystal Pool!

so nice. stroller friendly.
We started at the lower parking lot and looped counter-clockwise to Majestic Falls and back around to Royal Terrace. Trail is in great shape and still felt "wild" in many spots-- great for kiddo's. Well-signed-- just keep following the signs if nothing else!
Kimberly S. on McDowell Creek Falls Trail
this is a short and beautiful hike to 3 waterfalls. but the road is so close you hear and see log trucks and cars.
My Chihuahua and I took this trail on Christmas Day. It was really nice intermediate hike,(short but there was a slippery stone staircase) I've been in the Midwest a while so, this was a great starter trail with some elevation. There are three parking areas.. I drove up and down the road looking for the third one, its off to the left and not well marked. I had thought it was another road, but I found it once we passed over it on the trail. The only thing I would be careful of, is the stone staircase up to the Terrace Falls. Its steep, and very slippery. The trail is well kept, and I can see it being a favorite hike for families in the summer.
