This trail is an easy out and back that follows the river to beautiful falls. Children would like it because there are lots of opportunities to wade in the river. My watch showed it was closer to 4.5 miles round trip. We went in late April and it was perfect.

This is a great short hike with options to go further along the 6 Lake trail. It’s open now and the gate is open- from the south (La Pine). There is a bit of snow. I’d recommend poles and hiking boots right now.

this trail IS NOT open until end of may. beautiful area but gate closed and still a ton of snow

Stopped in with kiddos over the weekend for a quick walk. Saw cougar track and scat in the middle of the trail! Back to the car we went!

Beautiful hike with mild very gradual elevation gain and stunning waterfall at the end! There is a snowmobile trail that also leads to the falls, so be sure you find the trail through the woods off to the side of the snowmobile trail so you can enjoy the beautiful forest. The snowshoeing or cross country skiing trail is a little hard to find from the very start, but is easily visible from the cabin just a few feet up the snowmobile trail. The forest trail is also well marked with blue diamonds on the trail throughout the entirety. Highly recommend also checking out the lower falls viewpoint only 1/4 mile down in addition to upper level lookout. Of note, you need a Sno Park pass to park for this hike which we didn’t find listed anywhere else!

Hiked on 2/18/18 with several inches of snow on the ground. The falls were extra beautiful with Frozen water around it.

Super easy trail, great for anyone that wants to take a quick walk through the woods. Quiet, lightly used (I ran into one person on a warm Saturday) and offers varying views, from the river to pockets of dense forest and everything in between. Lots of anglers fishing on the first 1/2 mile, the rest of the time you'll be alone.

Great hike with some very good views of a gorge and falls. Easy to find and good parking. Would do it again!

Awesome lake! Super pristine water and not a terrible climb to get there. We actually backpacked in with the intent of camping at Cliff Lake, but there wasn't a decent place close to the lake to camp, so we continued to Porky Lake and did Mink Lake as a day hike. Next time I'll skip Porky and head right to Mink Lake.

This trail sucks. In the directions description it says to take the Peter Skeen Ogden trail but the map takes you to a snowmobile trail that is 2.5 miles of dust and boring. The waterfall at the end was breathtaking though.

Parked near the camp grounds and walked the little crater trail then on to the "hot springs". Nice view of the large obsidian flow south of the lake from the little crater trail. Continued on along the lake trail to the "hot springs" past a cool pumice and obsidian flow. A couple of wet marshy areas along the way had some bugs but not too bad. The "hot springs" were really one or two holes dug into the grassy shoreline, and not what we were expecting. Great views, beautiful lake, and a very easy trail at least on the east side. Would have done the entire lake lol but the kids were burnt out for our previous days trips.

Crappy trail. Lots of dead and down blocking the trail towards the end, we couldn't even get to one of the signs. A trail has been blazed around the tree, but there was human feces in the middle of the trail. Lots of mosquitos. For an "interpretive trail", there really wasn't much to be learned. We learned more from the nearby gravesite sign than this trail. Disappointed.

Great for swimming, fishing and extremely shallow hot springs.

Good hike with varied terrain; water along the way at campground-spotted a snake along the trail.

Easy hike with options to go further. Beautiful lake, Waters are clean and clear, definitely swimable.

Mink Lake is a beautiful location. The hike in is equally impressive, high desert, lakes, meadows, long ascents and descents, and quiet. We encountered three groups on our hike, all on the trail. The lake was cool, refreshing, and crystal clear. We tried our hands at fishing, and despite seeing them rise we had no luck. Mosquitos were brutal on the hike and at the lake so plan on taking some form of repellant. We used spray and the sweating caused it to wear off quite quickly. Despite the bites I will be visiting Mink Lake again in the near future with our son.

A nice, relatively easy trail with river views almost the whole way. Campground looked like a great spot too for a weekend (McKay Campground) and wasn't full yet on a Friday at 5pm.

This is the most beautiful and peaceful lake! While there isn't a lot of elevation gain on the loop, it's still 7.5 miles so wouldn't be easy for everyone. The hot springs are down a marked spur trail a little more than a mile after Little Crater Campground if hiking the loop counter clockwise and they were HOT when we were there. The little bar at the lake resort is a fun post-hike stop!

To Shayla - that means you went to the wrong place.

Nothing but hiking on a dirt road following the power line.

Beautiful trail. Unfortunately you can only climb it on a mountain bike. There is a mix of double track and gravel on the other side of the creek you can legally descend.

Nice gradual climb to the gorgeous lake. The Trail Head says it's a mile there, but the Fitbit reading logged 1.45 miles. Quite a difference. Worth it, but just FYI on the distance in case you're hiking with kids or something. It took us 33 minutes to reach the lake with 2 dogs.

There is a section of trail with sharp lava & obsidian flow. Could be hard on a dog's feet! Beautiful hike all the way around...

Just beautiful! I do agree with the rating, as parts of the trail weren't easy. The views of the lake are stunning. We took our dog and he did a great job! It was a bit challenging on some of the narrow parts of the trail, and we were lucky to have the trail to ourselves

This was an awesome hike! Very beautiful and much variety in terrain. You go through forests, obsidian flow, boulders and a short part through a campground! But I think the rating of "easy" is misleading. Walking through the obsidian flow and over the boulders while on the side of a mountain adds a challenge.

Good loop. Kinda weird walking through a parking lot during the loop though.
