Moderate hike from the hemlock side. Nice lakes Mosquitos weren’t too bad, but there was definitely an over abundance of them. The worst part was seeing all the toilet paper and poop holes people have left behind. If you’re going to dig a hole to use at least fill it in and pack out your toilet paper. Just behind every downed tree in the burned out section someone used the area as a toilet.

Sooooo pretty! Even ground, well maintained path.

Beautiful easy trail, very well maintained, included several educational signs about some of the plant life, easy access, I would recommend.

The lakes are still beautiful. Lots of fire damage on the short hike up to the first lake (1.25 mi), but the lakes were preserved pretty well. Mosquitos were moderate.

Beautiful trail with a wide variety of plants. Early June day brought a fluke snowstorm, which only added to the incredible scenery. Evidence of last year's massive forest fire is everywhere. Great people tirelessly cleared the trail and brought it back to life. 2 beautiful lakes close together, easy hike.

wonderful well maintained, gentle trail leading to the falls. We will be coming back here in the summer!

The comments below are not correct. The MOTT segment of the North Umpqua Trail is NOT closed. The NUT is broken up into segments, the Tioga and Marsters segments are still closed due to fire damage, per US Forest service as of 5/29/18.
I just hiked the MOTT segment May 28, 2018. It’s in great shape. In my opinion it’s the easiest of the segments, it’s nearly flat the entire time. Minimal elevation change.

Beautiful walk, clean trail, and stunning waterfall at the end!

Perfect hike for young kids. my 3 year old grandson walked it and had fun.

Sooo pretty!! Easy hike, fun, well maintained.. a must!!

This is a well maintained and beautiful trail. The path is wide and there are placards identifying plant life along the trail. It’s an easy hike (myself age 44, my husband age 46, and my parents in their 70’s) easily walked the trail without getting out of breath. There’s an outhouse and a trash can at the trailhead and the parking lot has space for at least 7 cars. We didn’t see anyone on the trail until we headed back towards the car. The waterfall is beautiful. I highly recommend this hike.

Hiked this with my mom on Mother’s Day. Great for kids and old people. Very pretty wild flowers along the way. It was great seeing families out as well. Got lucky and got a parking spot as someone was leaving.

Nothing like relaxing in the middle of so much beauty only nature can give!

Love hiking along the North Umpqua

Not a long hike and super sweet springs

Visited Twin Lakes in July 2017. One of the most beautiful hikes I’ve ever done. The two lakes are absolutely gorgeous. I didn’t have a problem with mosquitos when I visited. We were there mid day, around 1-2 pm. I highly recommend this hike. At this time, however, the road leading to Twin Lakes is closed due to fire damage that occurred during the summer.

Pretty spot and we hiked up to the top of the falls too!

Perfect 30 minute walk! Very easy for children. (3 & 9) beautiful falls, foot bridge, mossy trees. Loved every minute!

Very easy hike. Wished it was longer. Beautiful falls. Spent a long time at the bench next to the falls just enjoying the scene.

Easy hike with little signs that educate you about the plant life nAtive in the area. Loved the picnic table that is right by the river just down from waterfall. There is also a cute little bridge to and rocks to climb for a better view.

As of 10/24/17, NF 4770 (the forest road that leads to Twin Lakes) is closed due to fire activity. The trail is unlikely to be accessible until late next spring.

I had a fun time in this area I was apart of both builds along this trail. if you visit these sites in early spring you'll have the Beautiful view of butterflies. if you're around when the salmon and steelhead run then you'll get to see the fish spawning.

Beautiful hike! Very easy and quick. Dogs loved it.

Easy, interpretive Trail that ends at a beautiful waterfall with large, deep pools. The dogs loved it too.

Smiokey due to wildfires but worth the short 1 mile in hike. Easy to navigate with kids.

A beautiful trail with old growth forest. fantastic views, 2 beautiful lakes and wildflowers. The mosquitos were thick at the parking lot (thank you, previous hikers, for the warning) but there were very few at the lakes. The lakes are exceptionally beautiful.

Easy hike, very shaded, informative markers along the way telling about plants and berries. Pick nick tables right by the waterfall , very beautiful place to spend the day ! Also flushing toilets and running water .
