Good easy hike to the lower lake. Great view of Mt. Hood if you hike to Frog Lake Butte about 2 miles from the lower lake.

Great hike. Steady incline and switchbacks. The lake is small but great views. The parking lot at the TH is small and does charge. But there is not a fee station there so bring a pass with you. Go early. Coming down around 10am there were steady hikers coming up the trail.

The bugs were hard to get over. It was difficult to enjoy the hike while getting eaten alive.

A portion of the trail was closed due to construction. In June 2018. We followed others around the closed part and enjoyed the views. There were a lot of people fishing and swimming who appeared to be have a blast. Be sure to check availability for camping before you go. It was completely filled that week.

Nice walk to the lookout tower. No snow when I went, easy to follow and the views at the end are amazing. Check it out some time for sure!

Nice trail! Well maintained and for as busy as we expected it to be based on the cars we didn’t really run into to many people on the trail. The lake was not what I would call a mirror but is was about noon and there were plenty of people enjoying the water. I’d love to do this again in the winter with snowshoes.

Very busy on the weekends, but beautiful view at the top. totally worth it.

Beautiful views of Mts. Jefferson, Sisters and Bachelor on a clear day. As another reviewer stated, this hike was approximately 6 miles round trip with some good elevation changes along the way.

Did this trail on 7th July, and there was still enough snow on the mountain that 2 ski runs were open. The trail itself was fine though - we were wearing hiking boots and there were only a couple of places where we had to cross through the (low-level) snow. It’s quite a dusty trail for the most part, and quick elevation gain, but worth it for the amazing views and sense of achievement. If you’re looking for a place to play in the snow in mid-summer then that’s also a bonus ;-)

Get there early if you want a parking spot. We got there just before 8am on the weekend and were able to get a spot next to the trailhead. Very pretty hike. Was bummed that the mountain was all socked in with cloud cover. Clouds broke just for a minute to get a parial view of the mountain pic when we got to the summit. Very busy trail but to be expected since it is right off the highway.

Loved the trail. Hated the parking.

Absolutely bring bug spray! I definitely fed more than a few mosquitos on this trip. But, this is absolutely worth it. The rhododendron are on their way out, but the other wild flowers are more than making up for it.

Do the loop around the lake to get the full experience. I made an earlier start than most- left the truck around 7:45 this morning and was joined by about 6-8 other people up at the summit. By the time I got back down around 11, it was a zoo at the parking lot and I passed about 30 people who were headed up. Get the early start for the best views and less people!

Climbed in from the Mirror Lake trailhead, kind of on accident ( we saw the signs and made a spur of the moment decision to hike up). Definitely a steep climb (about 2000 feet over 4 miles), but the terrain changes constantly making for amazing views every half mile or so. Potential for fabulous views of Mt Hood as you hug the hillside, then some beautiful young forest trails, and some craigy rocky terrain towards the top. We arrived around 8am, and when we reached the summit it was still in cloud cover. We'd brought snacks so we sat down to wait out the clouds. One other couple arrived while we were there but they hiked down shortly after. About an hour after we arrived the clouds cleared.
Spectacular views of the valley, the mountain, and Mirror Lake!

Climbs pretty fast but well maintained and easy to follow trail, after a short climb you reach this beautiful and picturesque lake.

Easy for a morning Walk

The view from the top of the mountain was amazing on a clear, sunny day! We went on a weekday and arrived around 9am. We had to park about .75 miles up the road at the Skibowl and walk down to the trailhead. This was pretty easy to do but be mindful that you’ll have to walk back up it after you finish the hike. When we started out we encountered a few people on the trail. However, by the end of the hike, about three hours later, the trail was heavily trafficked. We’d recommend getting there early!

Been hiking here since I was young, always a great hike. Amazing view at the top (if weather allows), definitely worth the trip.

Awesome hike! Beginners and more expert hikers alike can enjoy. Arriving early helped us beat the crowds we saw pouring in as we were leaving. Passing the spot that seems like the summit and continuing on to the smaller outlook was worth it.

Got out here pretty early, which was a good decision since we got close parking and didn’t encounter too many other people on the way in. On the way out though, so many people.

Beautiful easy hike to the lake. It was pretty busy on the weekend, and ended up parking at skibowl because of limited parking. Not bad though!

Breathtaking!!!! Totally family friendly and worth taking all the way to Tom, Dick and Harry! Get ready for a spectacular view

Like others have said it's a bit longer than stated here. My Garmin clocked in at 3.7 mi when we reached the top. Elevation gain was right on at 3200 ft.

There are a handful of pretty decent popout views of Hood and the lookout at the top was super rad. Would do it again!

Worth the view! Pretty easy hike just a bit rocky at the end, but accessible to post! Enjoy hiking!

Did it yesterday from the lodge to zigzag river, a little over six miles in about three hours. Good views along the trail with light traffic. Trail starts descending and then ascending, personally, I like climbing first and then descending.

Absolutely beautiful beginning to a hike by the creek but it looks as tho the trail is washed out 1/4 if that of a mile into the hike. We turned around because we had dogs. There wasn’t a trail that we could see past the slide.

Just over 2 miles to the lake. Gradual climb up and well maintained wide trail.

such a beautiful view of Mt Hood and a very easy loop trail.

This trail is a favorite. Loads of good look out views and the view at the top is to die for. Definitely recommend this hike.

Great family hike! Gradual, beautiful incline to the lake. Gorgeous lake, not as still for a reflection adv I'd like but still breathtaking view of Mount Hood and still slightly reflected in the lake. Hike back was all downhill...out and back

Great little day hike with wonderful photo ops along the way.
