As beautiful as dunes can be, however 3 stars because: 1) some benches are too tall: probably, the soil settled with time; 2) the dunes block the view of the ocean; 3) "Warning! Mountain lion is active in this area" as posted in the kiosk by the bridge leading from the loop north-east to Alder dunes. "Is active", not merely "sighted."

Lovely walk along the beach.. trails diverge South end at the road and you can walk to the light house.

I added on the lighthouse trail to make it 6.6 miles. From forest to beach to vistas to the lighthouse this is worth a stop. Most don’t do the China Creek Loop and it was beautiful.

Awesome!!

I didn't have a lot of time for a hike so I just walked from hwy 101 down to the beach and back. It was an awesome little stroll through the dark forest to the Beach. Would definitely recommend this trail.

The weeds on this hike were unbelievably high!! It was hard to see the path and we stopped half way through because we couldn't find the path and we saw several garden snakes!!

It was a nice hike/walk. Lots of people on a Saturday.

Combines an beautiful beach walk with an awesome coastal forest hike. Make sure you take the China Creek loop - a quiet walk through an incredible Sitka Spruce forest.

Breathtaking. A great walk.

Perfect trail run

Favorite coastal hike. Connected to another trail and ended up doing 7.5 miles. Every bit of it beautiful!

One of my favorites and worth trying out. Only thing id say is if it's a cold, windy, and/or rainy day id skip the beach and go back the way you came. Ive also noticed when its rainy this trail doesn't get too terribly muddy. Theres only a few spots. Most pretty good.

Amazing day to be up at the lighthouse! great, easy climb to the top.

I love this trail. It’s a 4.5 mile loop and it doesn’t even feel like it! The beach is a beautiful addition to the woodsy hike across the highway. There is also a separate trail to the right on the woods side, not sure where it goes as my friend and I ran into a giant daddy long leg and went back to the main trail!

My absolute favorite stop on my little Oregon Coast road trip. There is a trail that leads up behind the lighthouse. Take it if you can! It’s the best view of the lighthouse and ocean. And use a panorama mode to capture it all. I added my favorite picture I’ve ever taken to this gallery. You just can’t beat the Oregon Coast.

walked the entire length and back. Very little elevation, very gradual. would make a good trail running spot. can be combined with other trails to make it more interesting.

The loop is 8 miles and at the second pull out. But it’s all worth it for the view at the top

It doesn't get any better than the Oregon Coast in early spring. Brought back amazing and many wonderful childhood memories.

It's a nice little combined trail stroll.

Beautiful hike, and views. Definitely will go back

Quaint & fun little trail

Such a beautiful hike to the lighthouse.

Love this trail! Check it out sometime!

Nice hike! Beautiful scenery! Totally worth it!

Nice trail. Liked the diversity of forest & beach, we added the out and back to the lighthouse.

Really easy hike up to the lighthouse. Tours end at 3pm. If you’re lucky you can spot sea lions swimming in the ocean!! Parking in the lower lot can be scarce, but it’s worth it.

Took this trail last weekend and it was absolutely beautiful! We happened to catch it on a gorgeous January day (60 degrees) and the views were stunning! The trail was a bit uphill to the lighthouse but definitely worth the walk. We didn’t take our dogs because we thought we would go into the lighthouse but ended up not going inside so we could definitely have taken them. Nice area at the top with great views of the ocean and waves crashing on the rocks below. Nice wide path. I would definitely recommend this one!

Nice trail through beautiful forest landing you on a pretty stretch of the beach. Watch your step on the roots.

The trail was 7.0 miles not 5.9.
