HikingBlowdownGreat!Off trailRockyScramble

For serious hikers that want a challenge, this is the trail for you. Hardest hike I've ever done, even compared to a day hike 18 miler. The trail is obscure after getting up past the boulders at the back of the first basin into the second basin so go slightly LEFT up the rocky slope and eventually you'll see the tiniest trail going straight up to the lip of the moutain. thats where the lake is.. I'll be honest, this was a mental battle and I've never been more proud of myself! Views are 5 stars. Challenge is 5 stars. But I love a challenge of determination and strength. This is a 8ish mile hike gaining and then losing 4,000 feet in elevation. So 4,000 feet in elevation in 4 ish miles. thats extreme. In return, you reach the highest lake in all of Oregon at 8100 feet elevation.

I've hiked this trail at leaat once a year for the past 12 years and I still love it! This trail has just about everything you'd want in a non-technical summit. A easy-to-follow trail, challenging elevation gain, friendly people, and beautiful views.

HikingGreat!

This trail was such a nice surprise! Every mile was a different landscape. We parked by the campground on the south side of the lake and walked clockwise. On the north side of the lake, there are dug out pits at the hot springs! We wish we would have brought a shovel or a bucket. We only met one dog with his owners - the rest of the trail was empty. Recommend catching the sunset on the East side. Beautiful! (And my Garmin said this hike was 6.5 miles)

Foggy. Road is in good condition. Downed tree that is easily passable on foot at mile 2.4. I only hiked 2.55 miles in then turned around. Easy hike.

Nature tripsGreat!

Great footing, pretty forest, the lakes edge is quite mucky, but the air smelled wonderful. This was just about the limit of my senior dogs, but it was a nice walk for everyone and there was no one else on the trail.

I only went 1 mile in today. Smoke from fires has disappeared but fog has rolled in. On nice days the views of the bay are excellent. Flat gravel road.

Great loop ..... started on 333 heading to beach. Walked on a deserted beach for a mile then headed back up the Oregon Coast Trail. Better than an out & back.

Nice dusty trail to get down to the water. We were there around noon and had no problem finding parking. There’s a bathroom by the parking lot but the one down by the water is closed. Going down was easy peasy but coming up was what makes it moderate. Bring trekking poles if you want to save your knees (which I left in the car). The water was super clear, clean, and cold. Took a dip in to get all the dust off and boy does it feel good! Lots of flies and lil chipmunks by the rocks. Saw a couple of crayfishes too. There’s no trash cans at the bottom so don’t forget to pack your trash!

Very steep slopes, I went counterclock wise, trekking poles high recommended. I think it will be equally steep clockwise.

it was quite muddy but luckily some space on the sides. there was quite a few piles of horse manure on the trail but not too bad. the trail itself is very well taken care of, with a less than moderate incline. the only thing that makes it slightly hard is the distance but in reality is just a moderate hike for regular hikers. it would be difficult for someone who rarely exerts themselves. the lake was more beautiful than expected but it is one of the more trafficked trails I've been on, though I never had to share the trail with anyone which I like. I mostly passed people coming up or down. there is plenty of space to find your own area to sit and eat or camp, it wasn't crowded. it was 13 miles total and I completed the hike in 4 hrs 45 minutes.

Went on a Smokey day (Oregon wildfires) but it was still so pretty! Could not see all mountains in the background but could see across the lake and slight outline of terrain in the distance. Not too difficult, but it was a great workout just due to the length. I ended up doing 10.7 with some picture detours along the way and at the Green Lakes.

Beautiful trail and the only place where you can swim at Crater Lake (cold but well worth it). I did it I’m strapped sandals and did fine, trail doesn’t really have any obstacles.

Great trail down to the water at Crater Lake! Make sure to get there early in the morning or else you won’t find any parking. Busiest trail in the park! The water is so refreshing!

Went early in the morning and enjoyed the trail to ourselves and sunrise hitting the walls of the lake. Windy conditions kicked up sand on the trail but not bad. Wind also felt refreshing on the way up! Seeing the lake and crater walls from the shoreline is incredible.
