Eagle Crest

Spent a couple of hours here with my toddler. I wouldn't say this hike features a river; technically the trail is a ways back from the edge of the canyon and there are signs warning against disturbing the birds of prey if you go off-trail. (We did it anyway, and it's a great view, but you're not supposed to.) The rest of the hike is sandy and rocky with rolling hills. Not too much of a challenge. Bring lots of water, especially if you're from the valley like we are and are not used to the dry. :) Nice parking area at the trailhead, and you can customize your trip's length as there are quite a few intersecting, loopy paths in this area. Keep an ear out for bikes!
