Length: 3 mi • Est. 1 h 25 m
Note: As of August 2020, the hot springs are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. More information can be viewed here: https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/mthood/recarea/?recid=52880 This hike goes through one of the last stands of Old Growth Forest in Oregon, along windy ridges, through burned-out slopes, across talus rubble fields, and past serene blue lakes. The full trail (past the hot springs) is 12.5 miles long. Bagby Trail (544) connects to Twin Lakes Trail (573) to Mother Lode Trail (558) and Pansy Lake (551). Users have reported the road to the trailhead is rough - a 4x4 vehicle may be required. There is $5 fee to soak in the hot springs which can be paid at the trailhead or Ripplebrook Store. Accessibility: This trail is dirt and typically at least three feet wide. The average grade is 5% and the max grade is 15% in multiple areas (at about 0.4 and 0.9 miles) so it may be too steep for some manual equipment users.Show more

A great short hike to amazing views of Mt. Jefferson. On top of Hawk Mountain the only thing that remains is the old cabin. The site was developed in 1919 with a 60 foot three-legged timber platform tower and a frame cabin (still there). The site was abandoned in the 1950's.Show more
