Nice trail- icy packed snow at time of hike. Tried to snow shoe but not enough powder. Could get away with just boots. Micro spikes would be helpful. Follow signs for Pengra pass, Odell Lk overlook and then the PCT signs will lead you to the overlook.

We camped at the snow park then hiked through some of the trails leading towards Waldo lake across the street the next morning. This was truly a winter wonderland with lots of snow and all fresh powder. We ultimately hiked through the trails all the way to willamette pass ski resort, hiked up (the lifts were still closed) then snowboarded down. We did about 6 miles with a big climb and it was well worth it if you’re looking for a challenge. Skinning with skis would be better but we went with snowshoes and boards on our back.

Broke the 4 mile trail up to the lookout then summited Fuji. wonderful way to spend Thanksgiving. still a ton of wood left in shelter. we built a wall with the rounds to keep in the heat. worked wonderfully! 9 degrees out and we were toasty warm! the views are breathtaking from the shelter!

First up for the winter season, no snow on the ground and all the gates were still open. The road to the shelter is marked by a green gate on the north side of the road by the first lake you come upon, I had to backtrack to find it again after hiking past it. Shelter was cozy but there was a huge rat nest on the sleeping platform so i pitched my tent for some alone time. The view of Diamond Peak is mostly blocked by trees, hence the 3 stars (and the rats).

The views were spectacular!!! The trail got aint from time to time and the scramble going down hill didn't feel great on my knees but this was a perfect day trip that allowed you to summit without needing any technical skills. My dog was even able to summit. If you have a four wheel drive vehicle with decent clearance I reccomend camping at summit lake the night before you climb up. such a pretty place to camp and right by the trailhead.

Loved this section of the PCT. nice and easy. 25-30 mile days are easy to do. Easy water access for most of it. Incredible

WARNING: the road from Crescent around the lake is a bad route, unless you want more adventure. Drove it yesterday with my Tacoma, DO NOT go this way without a 4x4 with clearance. It is a fun road, but be aware. Take the route from Oakridge. Drove back this way and the road is suitable for most vehicles. Good weather. Pleasant temperatures. Will be back. No cell service (a good thing or a bad thing, you be the judge).

Due to a late start we didn’t get the whole way round but the ride was excellent. Went south from the North campground. Few snow patches but a great ride!

Went early October. Saw two people the whole time. Was a great hike but a little snowy up near the 6,000 foot mark. The last stretch up was a little challenging due to not knowing where the trail was. We pretty much made our own trail up to the saddle back. Views at the top were awesome! Overall a great hike but the price is at the top.

just went october'1st 2019 little bit of snow but still a very good hike

Good little hike. Beautiful waterfall. Muddy and slick in a few places but a quick stop on the way to Crater Lake. Worth the stop!

Good trail leading to a beautiful lake. Late September so no bugs! Campsites at lake are comfortable. Fishing was poor. Be aware that motorcycles are legal on this and surrounding trails.

Fantastic hike. We had a sunny, clear day and could see numerous mountains from the summit. Other reviewers and our hiking book mentioned that this is a trail where you're not likely to run into a lot of other people. Well, we were alone at the summit for about 5 minutes and by the time we left an hour later I counted 17 other people at the summit. The final trek to the summit does require hands and sure footing to ascend the rock face. Took 3h 40min hiking time to complete.

Challenging trail with a spectacular view of the falls. The only downfall was that the .2 mile road to the trailhead was impassable in a sedan. I would recommend an suv or truck unless you are ok parking on the road and walking to the trailhead

Did the hike on 9/21, and had great weather. We accessed the trail head with a low clearance Subaru Impreza too!

My friend said this hike was about half as long as it was, but I think the view of Fawn Lake was worth it at the end! Just have some sore legs now

Great hike for the first 6 miles. As soon as you get to Yoran lake the trail disappears, no sign of a trail at all. Tried following the gps ended up walking around the woods for a mile before turning back and heading home. Wasn’t worth staying overnight fighting off mosquitoes. Otherwise a beautiful 6 mile hike to Yoran lake

No trail passed Stag Lake but if you follow the trail shown here, it looks like you’d be fine. I ended up not following my GPS and going straight up the hill to the west of Lakeview Mountain, thinking I could then ride the saddle across to Lakeview. Don’t do that if you want to go up Lakeview, it was not successful lol. Check out my recording for what NOT to do! Great view regardless!

With a goal of summiting Diamond Peak, we shaved a couple miles off the total distance by starting at Summit Lake. The first ~4 miles were easy, but things got challenging promptly after the uphill turn to the climbers trail. This turn is marked by two cairns and would not be hard to miss. Great weather, comfortable conditions both at Summit Lake and above treeline over Labor Day Weekend.

Easy to see, hear and feel this fall! Beautiful!!
